(EN) The invention relates to methods for stabilizing, during the storage of paint based materials on an alkyd base, and can be used in the production of alkyd enamels for various purposes. The method of stabilizing paintwork materials on an alkyd base is to handle the desiccant and the stabilizing additive. As a desiccant, cobalt octoate-cobalt salt and 2-ethylhexanoic acid is used, and the additive based on cyclohexanone oxyoxime OxyChim-Stirol is used as the stabilizing additive in an amount of 0.65-0.7 wt% with a molar ratio of oxime: desiccant 4.2-8.6): 1. The method makes it possible to ensure a long-term stabilization of the enamels from the formation of the surface film while preserving the drying time of the film and its hardness.
DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
(EN) The invention relates to methods for stabilizing, during the storage of paint based materials on an alkyd base, and can be used in the production of alkyd enamels for various purposes.
In air oxidation drying processes of alkyd paints, oxidation polymerisation accelerators-desiccants, which are oil-soluble salts of certain heavy metals and monobasic organic acids of the general formula (RCOO) xMe, are important for the correct control of the relationship between the drying processes in the surface layer and in the entire volume , Where lead is traditionally used most widely as xMe since it has been observed that lead pigments contribute to drying. [1. MF Sorokin, ZA Kochenova, LG Shode Chemistry and technology of film-forming substances. - Moscow: Chemistry, 1989, p.423].
Along with the control of drying, desiccants can accelerate the formation of a surface film when storing paintwork materials. The formation of a surface film in a container during storage is one of the principal drawbacks of paint based materials based on alkyds.
To combat this phenomenon in individual paints of air-based auto-oxidation drying, fir oil, dipentene, phenolic antioxidants, oximes are used. [2. Paintwork materials and coatings. Theory and practice. Edited by R.Lembourne, St. Petersburg: Chemistry, 1991, p.128].
Some of these additives can cause the loss of the ability of the paint to dry out, reduce the hardness of the film, so it is necessary to check their effect on both the formation of the surface film and the drying ability, as well as the film hardness.
In the literature, there are no data on the use of known additives for the stabilization of alkyd-based paints, their effectiveness when combined with various desiccants.
A method for stabilizing paintwork materials on an alkyd base is known by incorporating in them as a stabilizing additive 0.8-2.5% of the weight of the alkyd base 16-18% by weight of sodium hydroxide solution in ethyl cellulose or 16-18% by weight of the solution in ethyl cellulose of the mixture Hydroxylamine and sodium hydroxide at a weight ratio of 0.1 19-22) [3. AS of the USSR No. 1705325, IPC S 09 D 7/12 - prototype].
The disadvantage of this method is that the addition of a solution of sodium hydroxide in ethyl cellulose stabilizes the enamel and the primer from thickening during storage by reducing the acid residue of the original lacquer, but does not stabilize from the formation of the surface film, the addition of 1% hydroxylamine solution in ethylcellulose is not sufficient Stabilizes the enamel from the formation of the surface film.
The object of the invention is to improve the method for stabilizing paintwork materials on an alkyd base, providing a long-term stabilization of the enamels from the formation of the surface film while preserving the drying time of the film and its hardness by selecting a combination of the stabilizing additive with the desiccant, their concentration and ratio.
This object is achieved by the use of cobalt octoate-cobalt and 2-ethylhexanoic acid as the desiccant in the method for stabilizing the paint materials on an alkyd base by the introduction of a desiccant and a stabilizing additive, and an oxime-based additive is used as the stabilizing additive Cyclohexanone "OxyChim-Styrene" in an amount of 0.65-0.7% by weight with a molar ratio of oxime: desiccant (4.2-8.6): 1.
The proposed method allows to increase the period of enamel storage from 3-4 months to 8-12 months without the formation of a surface film while maintaining all properties within the requirements of normative and technical documentation.
As can be seen from Tables 1, 2, 3 in the proposed method (examples 1-3) in comparison with the prototype (Example 9), the film-forming stability for enamel PF-115 increases from 5 to 12 months. Similar results were obtained on enamel grades PF-133 (Example 4) and PF-266 (Example 5), with a decrease in the concentration of oxime to 0.5% by weight (Example 6), the protection against film formation decreases to 7, the film hardness and time The drying does not meet GOST 6465 and 896. As the oxime concentration is increased and the ratio is higher than the set limits (example 7), the enamel does not meet the requirements for film hardness, drying time.
When using a lead-containing desiccant (Example 8), the enamel does not meet the requirements of GOST 6465 for the film hardness and drying time.
Example 1
Composition based on the formulation of enamel PF-115, mass%:
Pentafthal varnish PF-060 | 72.30 |
Dioxide of titanium brand | P-02-22,60 |
Zinc White | 1.70 |
Solvent | 0.81 |
"OxyChem-Styrene" | 0.68 |
Cobalt octoate | 1.90 |
Addition of AF-2k | 0.01 |
In addition to the above-mentioned ingredients of the composition, it also includes a solution of "OxyChim-Styrene". This solution of cyclohexanone oxime in xylene, developed on the basis of TU U24.3-13395997-003-2001.
Addition AF-2K is a homogeneous liquid from yellow to brown color - solution of polymethylbutoxymethylsiloxysiloxanes in xylene, with a mass fraction of volatile substances - 50, 60% and an acid number of not more than 1.6 mg KOH / g. (Catalog "Products of the Zaporozhye Production Association" Kremnopolymer ", NIITEKHIM, Cherkassy, 1995).
The composition based on the formulation of enamel PF-115 is obtained as follows:
60% by weight of the formulation amount of PF-060 lacquer are loaded into the stirred reactor, a stirring device is charged, and a prescription amount of pigments and fillers is loaded.
Turnover of the stirrer is increased to 1500 and agitated for 30-40 minutes. Then the resulting paste is passed through a bead mill, the remaining 40% by weight of PF-060 varnish, functional additives, a solvent (if necessary), drier cobalt octoate and cyclohexanone oxime are added. Stirring is carried out at 50-70 rpm for 1-1.5 hours.
EXAMPLE 2 A formulation using the semi-finished enamel PF-133 and PF-266 is produced in a similar manner, using the PF-053 lacquer.
Thus, the proposed method allows to ensure the stabilization of paint and varnish materials in the course of long-term storage, to provide protection against the formation of a surface film while maintaining the basic physicochemical characteristics, for example, the drying time of the film and its hardness.
