The invention relates to flame retardant paint materials and is intended for use, for example, in construction. The flame retardant paint includes an unplasticized polymer dispersion of acrylic copolymer with vinyl versatate, melamine, pentaerythritol, low molecular weight acrylic dispersion, sodium carboxymethylcellulose, isothiazolone derivatives, titanium dioxide, ammonium polyphosphate, antifoam agent, 2,3,4-trimethyl-1,3-pentadiol monoisobutyrate, butyl cellosolve, Sodium polyphosphate, water, may contain aerosil. The combination of components in a certain ratio allows you to get a paint with high water resistance and fire retardant properties.
DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
The invention relates to paint and varnish materials, namely to fire retardant water-based paint for coating, and can be used for interior and exterior works on wood, plaster, polyurethane foam, concrete, cardboard and metal structures in construction, aviation, railway transport and in other areas where it is required. Protection of surfaces of such products from fire.
Fire-retardant coatings have a fire-retardant effect when protecting easily combustible surfaces (wood, cardboard) and heat-insulating action when protecting metal and other hard-to-fire surfaces in order to increase the limit of their fire resistance in the event of a fire. The principle of the protective effect of most coatings is to reduce the depth and speed of heating the protected surface.
The decisive factor determining the effectiveness of the fire-protective action of the coating is their thermal insulation ability, which largely depends on the thickness of the coating.
However, an excessive increase in the thickness of the coating can adversely affect its performance properties. From this point of view, the most promising are fire-protective intumescent coatings having a relatively small thickness, which is significantly increased in the fire conditions under high-temperature influences.
Known is a fireproof intumescent coating composition based on a water-soluble urea-formaldehyde resin as a binder comprising ammonium polyphosphate, dicyandiamide, pentaerythritol, kaolin, fiberglass and water (RU 2028348, 1995).
However, the preparation of such a composition must be carried out immediately before the coating is applied, which is not technological, and the presence of dicyandiamide, which releases toxic substances during combustion, makes the composition toxic and worsens the ecology.
The closest to the proposed is a flame retardant intumescent paint comprising, in mass%: an aqueous acrylic dispersion or a mixture thereof with a homo- or copolymer vinyl acetate dispersion, 31.0-37.0, ammonium polyphosphate 17.0-23.0, pentaerythite- 9.0-13.0, titanium dioxide 1.0-3.0, talc or microtalk 5.0-8.5, an anionic and / or non-ionic surfactant 0.2-0.3, coalescing Additive - 1,7-1,85, thickener on the basis of cellulose ethers - 0.1-0.2, defoamer - 0.3-0.4, sodium tetraborate - 0-0.1, water - the rest [pat. RU 2174527 C1, published 10.10.2001]. However, it has insufficient water resistance and flame retardant properties.
The technical problem of the claimed invention is the improvement of water resistance and flame retardant properties, which makes it possible to widely use it in construction both for external and internal works on wood, metal and plaster.
This technical problem is solved by the fact that a flame retardant intumescent paint comprising an aqueous acrylic dispersion, a cellulose ether ester, an anionic surfactant, pentaerythritol, ammonium polyphosphate, titanium dioxide, silicone antifoam, preservative, coalescing additive, water, further comprises chloroparaffin or a phosphate plasticizer, Melamine and a dispersion of a low molecular weight acrylic polymer, as an aqueous acrylic dispersion, an unplasticized polymer dispersion of an acrylic copolymer with vinyl versatate, as a coalescing additive, a mixture of 2,2,4-trimethyl-1,3 pentadiol monoisobutyrate with butyl cellosolve, as cellulosic thickener sodium carboxymethylcellulose, and As a preservative additive - derivatives of isothiazolone, as an anionic surfactant - sodium polyphosphate, with the following ratio of components, mass%:
Unplasticized polymer dispersion of acrylic copolymer with vinyl versatate - 18,0-22,0
Pentaerythritol 8.0-15.0
Ammonium polyphosphate - 20.0-25.0
Polyphosphate Na - 0.1-0.5
Melamine - 10.0-15.0
The dispersion of a low molecular weight acrylic polymer is 0.1-0.5
Sodium carboxymethylcellulose 0.2-0.4
The isothiazolone derivatives are 0.1-0.3
Dioxide of titanium - 4,0-8,0
Silicone antifoaming agent - 0,5-1,0
2,2,4-trimethyl-1,3-pentadiol mono-isobutyrate 0.2-0.5
Butylcellosolve 0.3-0.8
Chloroparaffin or phosphate plasticizer 2.0-5.0
Water - Other
The paint can additionally contain 0.5-1.0% silica.
As an unplasticized polymer dispersion of acrylic copolymer with vinyl versatate, any unplasticized dispersion of acrylic copolymer with vinyl versatate can be used, for example, the dispersion Finndisp RSD 20 from Forcit (Finland), which is a dispersion of the block copolymer of butyl acrylate, methyl acrylate, ethyl acrylate and vinyl versatate.
As a dispersion of a low molecular weight acrylic polymer, Polyphob TR 117 is used, which is a dispersion of a low molecular weight acrylic polymer based on ethyl acrylate, from Union Carbide (Belgium), Acrisol RM-5 from Room and Haas, and others.
Ammonium polyphosphate is Exolit AP 422, 462 from Clariant (Germany) or modified ammonium polyphosphate FR Cros 484 from Budenheim Iberica. SM (Spain), they all have the formula (NH 4 ) n + 2 P n O 3n + 1 .
As a preservative, isothiazolone derivatives, for example, Metatin K 604, K 520 from Acima (Switzerland), having the formula 5-chloro-2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-OH; 2 methyl-4 isothiazolin-3OH; Mergal To 9N from Ciba (Switzerland), having the formula 5-chloro-N-methylisothiazolinone, N-methylisothiazolinone.
As the 2,2,4-trimethyl 1,3-pentadiol monoisobutyrate, Texanol from Eastman (England) is used.
As a plasticizer, the domestic phosphate plasticizer of grade B (TU 6-06-241-92), having the empirical formula
Chloroparaffin, for example, CP-470, or import phosphate plasticizers such as triarylalkyl phosphates, for example AmGard TBEP, representing tributoxyethyl phosphate, from Rhodia (France).
Silicon dioxide is used as the silicon dioxide of the brand Siloid ED-3 from Grace Davison (Germany).
As the silicone defoamer, use is made of organo-modified polysiloxane Tego Foamex 810 (Germany, Tego), silicone polyester with Tego Airex 901W solid, silicone antifoaming agent PMS-200 or mixtures thereof.
The paint is prepared, for example, as follows. The apparatus with a stirrer is charged with water, sodium carboxymethylcellulose, sodium polyphosphate, isothiazolone derivatives, mixed until uniform at a temperature of 40-60 ° C for 40-60 minutes. Then, butyl cellosolve, chloroparaffin or phosphate plasticizer, melamine, pentaerythritol, titanium dioxide is also added thereto, the resulting mixture is ground in an apparatus with grinding bodies or a high-speed mixer, then a dispersion of the acrylic copolymer with 2,2,4-trimethyl-1 vinylsatate is added to the resulting mass, 3-pentadiol mono-isobutyrate, ammonium polyphosphate, silicone defoamers, low molecular weight acrylic dispersion, if necessary, silica.
The paint is applied by brush, roller, spray.
Examples of formulations according to the invention are given in Table 1, the coating rates based on them are shown in Table 2.
As can be seen from the tables, the proposed paint has higher water resistance and fire retardant properties, expressed in increasing the multiplicity of the swelling and a more durable foam layer.
