A hydrogen generator comprising a hydrogen atom source, a state selector, a device for excitation of atomic transitions, a resonator with a storage volume, and a solenoid with a screen, characterized in that, in order to shorten the tuning time of the resonator, improve reproducibility and frequency stability, At least from two compartments, in one compartment the magnetic superhigh-frequency field is oriented perpendicularly, and in the other compartment it is parallel to the direction of the magnetic field of the solenoid.

DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The invention relates to the field of application of quantum electronics devices and can be used to create frequency standards with increased short-term and long-term stability and frequency reproducibility.

In a known hydrogen generator, which emits one spectral line consisting of a hydrogen atom beam source, a state selector, devices for excitation of atomic transitions, a resonator with a storage volume and a screen solenoid, a large number of precision apparatus is required to determine the magnitude and sign of the detuning of the resonator. In addition, in such a generator, the processes of tuning the resonator and calibrating the magnetic field impair the short-term stability of the frequency.

In the proposed generator, in order to reduce the volume of auxiliary equipment, increase the frequency reproducibility, as well as its short-term and long-term stability, the storage volume is divided into at least two independent compartments, oriented in a certain way with respect to the field of the resonator and the field of the solenoid.

The figure shows a general view of the proposed hydrogen generator.

HYDROGEN GENERATOR

The generator contains a source of 1 atomic hydrogen; State selector 2; Device 3 for excitation of hydrogen atoms; A resonator 4, a storage volume 5 divided into four compartments, inputs 6 of storage volume compartments, a solenoid 7, a magnetic shield 8, a communication loop 9, a tuning element 10.

The device works as follows. The source of 1 atoms directs the beam in the direction of the state selector 2. In the initial beam there are atoms on four equally populated levels of the hyperfine structure of the ground state of the hydrogen atom. The state selector 2 focuses on the device 3 atoms on the two highest levels, and dissipates the atoms on the two lower levels. Device 3 excites transitions between the upper and third top levels of atoms, as a result of which the populations of these levels are equalized. The beam entering the storage volume 5 contains excited atoms in the three upper states.

The storage volume 5 is divided into independent compartments in such a way that in one pair of compartments the magnetic microwave field of the resonance type of oscillations is perpendicular to the field of the solenoid, and in the other pair in parallel. In the compartments of the first type, the atoms located at the first and third top levels have the maximum electromagnetic coupling with the resonator field and radiate energy when the transitions induced to this level to the lowest level are induced.

In the compartments of the second type, atoms emitting at the second highest energy level radiate. The signals at three frequencies corresponding to transitions from the upper levels to the same lower one are output from the resonator to the load through the coupling loop 9.

As a result of frequency comparison of the three spectral lines emitted by the described generator, the problem of determining the magnitude and sign of the detuning of the resonator and the magnitude of the working magnetic field is solved. Thus, there is no need for an additional reference high-stable generator, which significantly reduces the amount of necessary equipment. At the same time, the tuning time of the resonator is shortened, the reproducibility and frequency stability are increased.
