A method for producing hydrogen by use of methane. Methane is brought into contact with chlorine under illumination by sunlight and / or by quartz lamps. Wherein the resulting product gas is passed through the water layer, the resulting solution is brought into contact with metallic iron and hydrogen formed is collected. The method allows to reduce energy consumption and improve product purity

DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The invention relates to chemistry and may find application in hydrogen generation by utilizing methane.

A method of producing hydrogen comprising the use of methane as feedstock [1].

According to this known process, methane is contacted with steam in the presence of oxygen using a catalyst and heated to 700-800 o C.

However, this known method of energy-consuming, it requires the use of expensive catalyst, and hydrogen is generated in the mixture with carbon dioxide:

2CH 4 + 2H 2 O + O 2 _-> 2CO 2 + 6H 2.

The resulting gas mixture is very difficult to separation and therefore the hydrogen produced in this manner is not a pure product.

The technical result achieved in the implementation of the present invention, I yavlyaets lower energy costs and increase the purity of the desired product.

This is achieved by the method for producing hydrogen gas, comprising the use of raw material in the form of methane, the distinguishing feature is that methane is brought into contact with chlorine, resulting in this product gas is passed through the water layer, the resulting solution is brought into contact with metallic iron, and collect the resulting hydrogen.

Recommended methane brought into contact with chlorine under illumination by sunlight and / or by quartz lamps.

First proposed by the present invention the sequence of operations providing the production of pure hydrogen without using a catalyst and heat.

The following are examples of the invention.

example 1
The reactor 10 liter vacuum created by a vacuum pump, then introduced into the reactor in the darkness, 1.6 g (2.24 liters) methane, and then - 14,2 g (4,418 liters) of chlorine. In gas, the reaction mixture is exposed to sunlight lighting that was accompanied by the release of hydrogen chloride. The resulting hydrogen chloride is withdrawn into a container with 0,131 liters of water and passed through the water. The resulting solution of hydrochloric acid (pH ~ 1, p ~ 1,05 g / cm 3) was slowly added to the reactor, arranged by type Kipp apparatus, comprising metallic iron shavings. The resulting hydrogen is withdrawn and collected. We received 0.4 g of hydrogen (Density - 0.089 g / lit to form water).

example 2
Following the procedure of Example 1 was prepared from methane using hydrogen chloride lighting quartz lamps. Hydrogen is then received with the same characteristics.

Thus, the method according to the invention allows utilizing methane to obtain pure hydrogen without using a catalyst and heating at high temperatures.

CLAIM

  1. A method for producing hydrogen gas, comprising the use of raw material in the form of methane, wherein the methane is brought into contact with the chlorine gas thus formed product is passed through the water layer, the resulting solution is brought into contact with metallic iron and hydrogen formed is collected.

  2. A method according to claim 1, characterized in that methane is brought into contact with chlorine under illumination by sunlight and / or by quartz lamps.
