The invention relates to the production of water-soluble adhesives based on a synthetic binder used for pasting labels onto a returnable packaging that is repeatedly washed and can be used in alcoholic beverage, wine, soft drinks, canning and other branches of the economy. Adhesive composition in addition to hydrolyzed polyacrylonitrile contains additionally an aqueous solution of polyariclamide and an aqueous acid solution to neutralize the binder. The combination of components in a certain ratio allows to obtain an environmentally friendly adhesive composition that ensures fast and strong adhesion of the label to the vertical surface, and fast and without any residue removing the label and adhesive layer with cold water.

DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The invention relates to the production of water-soluble adhesives based on a synthetic binder used for pasting labels onto a returnable packaging that is repeatedly washed and can be used in alcoholic beverage, wine, soft drinks, canning and other branches of the economy.

Widely known glue compositions used for glass containers based on casein glue, produced under the trade names "Signacool-300", "Crones-colfix K40K2", "Eticol-909" .

The use of known adhesive compositions is associated with a number of negative aspects - labels from used containers are removed with a slightly alkaline aqueous solution, for example 1-3% solution of sodium hydroxide or with the addition of soap. This requires additional costs for the treatment of wastewater and, as a rule, leads to a more complicated environmental situation in the enterprises processing the returnable packaging. In addition, known adhesive compositions require a certain mode of storage and use.

Most preferable for the purpose of gluing the labels are glue compositions based on synthetic adhesives, since the use of slightly alkaline solutions is not required to remove labels on these adhesive compositions. Thus, for example, a glue for labels containing, % : Sodium carboxymethylcellulose 2.6-3.4 ; Dextrin 2,6-3,6 ; Urea 0.9-1.1; 15-20% aqueous solution of phosphorylated starch 0.3-0.5 and carbamide resin - the rest (Aut.SU. SU 1514755, IPC 4C 09 J 3/16, 1989 ).

Labels from containers with a known composition are removed with water, however, to completely remove both the label and the traces of the adhesive layer, a sufficiently large volume of washing water and an additional mechanical effect on the bonding site are required. In addition, urea-formaldehyde resin, which is part of the adhesive composition, when it is broken, is a source of formaldehyde release, which is undesirable.

The closest to the proposed is the adhesive for labels containing the product of hydrolysis of polyacrylonitrile fiber and sodium hydroxide in the form of an aqueous solution ( RF patent No. 2135539, IPC C 09 J 133/20, C 08 J 11/04, 1999 ).

The shortcomings of the known composition include insufficient adhesion and increased chemical aggressiveness of the composition.

It is an object of the present invention to provide an environmentally friendly adhesive composition that allows the label to be quickly and firmly attached to a vertical surface, and quickly and without undoing to remove the label and the adhesive layer with cold water.

The object of the invention is achieved by the fact that the binder for the claimed adhesive for the labels contains hydrolyzed polyacrylonitrile in the form of an aqueous solution, in contrast to the known binder, further contains polyacrylamide in the form of an aqueous solution, and acid in the form of its aqueous solution for neutralizing the binder, Components, wt. % :

  • Hydrolyzed polyacrylonitrile ( PAN ), in terms of abs. Dry - 10.0-28.0
  • Polyacrylamide ( PAA ), in terms of abs. Dry - 0,2-0,6
  • Acid, in terms of 100% - 0,25-0,75
  • Water (general) - the rest

The claimed composition contains a new synthetic binder, a neutralized mixture of hydrolyzed PAN and PAA .

The proposed adhesive composition can be applied to a vertical smooth surface, provides the required strength of the gluing with the container at the minimum consumption of the adhesive, the resulting adhesive layer does not collapse during useful use, but it is easy enough to remove it with cold water when preparing the container for secondary use.

The proposed composition can be made of materials widely known in the industry. Polyacrylonitrile ( PAN- fiber) is a large-tonnage product manufactured, for example, according to TU 2272041-05757601-97 under the trade name "Synthetic nitronic fiber threaded". Hydrolyzed PAN is widely used, for example, in the production of pile products, compositions for impregnating paper, etc. Hydrolyzed PAN are obtained by widely known methods - the interaction of PAN-fiber with an aqueous solution of alkali, taken in equimolar ratios.

Polyacrylamide ( PAA ) and is a large-tonnage product of the chemical industry, is manufactured according to TU 6-02-00209912-32-98 grade H-600 . As the acid, any acidic reagent, for example sulfuric acid, acetic acid and other known acids, can be used. The acid is used in the claimed composition in the form of its aqueous solution to neutralize the aqueous solution of the binder.

The proposed composition is illustrated by examples of concrete implementation.

Example 1 (according to the invention)
The calculated amount of aqueous sodium hydroxide solution is charged to the reactor and an equimolar amount of PAN-fiber is added in accordance with TU 2272-041-05757601-97 produced by OOO "Saratovorgsintez" to produce hydrolyzed PAN. A calculated amount of an aqueous solution of polyacrylamide is added to the obtained solution of the hydrolyzed PAN by heating and stirring. The process of brewing the glue is completed by adding an aqueous solution of sulfuric acid to the resulting homogeneous mass, until a pH of about 6 is reached on litmus paper. The finished composition is cooled to the temperature of the working room and packed in a standard container.

The quantitative loading of the ingredients of the adhesive composition is calculated based on the following component ratio, % :

  • Hydrolyzed polyacrylonitrile ( PAN ), in terms of abs. Dry - 10.0
  • Polyacrylamide ( PAA) , in terms of abs. Dry - 0,6
  • Acid - 0.25
  • Water (total) - 89.15

The properties of the claimed adhesive are determined by standard techniques. The conditional viscosity is determined in accordance with GOST 8420 , the content of non-volatile substances in accordance with GOST 17537 . Appearance is defined visually at a transfusion of 200 mm 3 adhesive composition from one container to another. The concentration of hydrogen ions is determined on a pH- meter of any brand, according to the instructions attached to it, the appearance of the film is determined in the transmitted light of the glass surface after application of the test adhesive and its drying under natural conditions for 2 hours. Adhesive ability is determined by the force necessary to separate the test strips glued by the test adhesive with a tensile machine of the RT-250 type . The obtained data are given in the table.

Example 2 (according to the invention)
Example is carried out analogously to Example 1 . The introduction of the ingredients is carried out at the next quantitative ratio, wt. % :

  • Acid - 0.8
  • Water (total) - 70.1

The data are given in the table.

Example 5 (reference)
Example is carried out analogously to Example 1 . The introduction of the ingredients is carried out at the next quantitative ratio, wt. % :

  • Hydrolyzed polyacrylonitrile ( PAN) , in terms of abs. Dry - 9.0

  • Acid - 0.2
  • Water (total) - 90.1

The data are given in the table.

Adhesive compounds were applied to the labels (control labels). The labels processed by the adhesive composition were applied to the vertical surfaces of glass bottles. Labels, processed by the claimed composition, do not slip from the surface of the bottles during the drying of the adhesive layer, after drying, there are no peeled edges along their perimeter.

Bottles with pasted labels were treated with cold water until the label and traces of the adhesive layer were completely removed. To completely remove the label and the adhesive layer formed by the claimed composition, it took 10-12 minutes of water treatment. After drying of the washed bottle there are no traces of glue on its surface.

As can be seen from the data presented in the table, the use of adhesive in the claimed quantitative ratio of ingredients makes it possible to obtain a glue composition that is convenient in bottle labeling technology, characterized by low consumption rates and a long shelf life with high adhesive capacity, and simplifies the recycling technology for recycling.
