Aponogeton rigidifolius (aponogeton rigidifolius)


Aponogetonaceae (Aponogetonovye) family.
Distribution South-west of Sri Lanka.
Aquatic plant with long, slender, branched rhizome. Ribbon-like leaves, up to 60-120 cm, 3 cm wide, from olive to dark green, with intense light and brown-brown color. Edge smooth or wavy.
Peduncle up to 110 cm, or only slightly thickened. Opaque sheet up to 2 cm in length fall away. Inflorescence with one spikelet, up to 15 cm, with a circular arrangement of flowers. 2 (3) white tepals, stamens 6-8, 3 sizes up to 12 x 6 mm. Seeds of size 12 x 5 mm, peel ordinary.
It is best to cultivate soft to medium hard water, with especially favorable pH in the slightly acidic range (CO2 saturation). For the content is very significant constant circulation of water, so the most optimum location in the vicinity of the filter. The plant belongs to the whimsical and light-loving species. In evaluating their suitability important is the point that aponogeton rigidifolius forms long, thin rhizome and does not need a period of rest. Although the species develops in the aquarium slowly, but grows into a magnificent plant for several months.
