Where in Ukraine is most dangerous to travel: a road accident map for the year

Most of the accidents occur in Kiev, least of all - in the Ternopil region. The most common reason is still speeding.

Summarizing the results of the year, the rating of the regions of Ukraine was made in terms of the number of accidents.

The most common cause of an accident is speeding!

According to the Department of Traffic Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, most of the accidents in 2013 happened in the capital. Following it are Donetsk, Odessa and Kharkov regions. Closes the top five "leaders" Dnipropetrovsk. Honor SDA are trying in Western Ukraine - in Ternopil, Rivne, Chernivtsi and Transcarpathian regions. The Kirovograd region can be considered safe. However, if you calculate the number of accidents per 1000 people, Odesa Oblast rises to the second place, the Kharkov and Donetsk regions take the third place, and the Dnipropetrovsk Region takes the fifth place (see infographics).

It is noteworthy that in the Lviv region, which by the number of population is ahead of Odessa, the percentage of accidents is lower by 0.003%. And in general, compared with 2012, Ukrainians began to fall into an accident less: 196 thousand accidents against 190 thousand.

Causes. In the department of the State Automobile Inspection, it is noted that most accidents are due to speeding. The second most common reason is the violation of maneuvering rules. By the way, in 2012 the situation was the opposite - accidents were more frequent due to incorrect maneuvering, and not because of the desire of drivers to "drive." Leaders also got a violation of the rules for the passage of crossroads, hitting pedestrians and non-compliance with the prescribed distance. The most rare causes of accidents are the negligence of animal drivers (only 6 such cases were registered) and the disruption of the passage of bulky vehicles (for example, an overloaded wagon overturned) - four accidents.

The roads are to blame

The fact that the list of the most emergency cities does not actually change, it's no wonder, the head of the Center for Traffic Safety and Automated Systems of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Sergei Budnik. "Kiev, Odessa, Donetsk, Kharkov are the largest regions in Ukraine. Here lives more people, accordingly, and more cars are registered. Therefore, I think that this is the main reason, "Budnik explained. The policeman notes that the causes of the accident continue to remain standard: "Most often we encounter speeding, breaking the rules of overtaking and driving in a state of intoxication."

But the activists of the Road Control believe otherwise: according to them, the main reason - bad roads. "Such a large number of accidents primarily associated with a very poor road surface - convinced the head of the press service of the Road Control Egor Vorobyov. "Drivers go around pits and get into an accident." Another cause of accidents in the regions, according to the DC, is confusion with traffic signs - they are not always visible from the road.

According to the traffic police, the number of road accidents that occurred due to inadequate road coverage in the past year, a relatively small - all 114.

Recall, in November last year, the Cabinet allocated to the roads in the regions an additional 3.82 billion USD, which were supposed to go on patching the pits on secondary streets.

The last year was remembered by the increased number of accidents involving buses and fixed-route taxis. According to the traffic police, in 2013 in such an accident killed 170 people. Here Kiev, Donetsk, Lviv, Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporozhye regions are in the lead.
