Where in Ukraine is the most dangerous to drive: an accident card for the year
Most accidents occur in Kiev, least of all - in the Ternopil region. The most common cause is still speeding.
Summing up the year, made a rating of regions of Ukraine by the number of accidents.
The most common cause of accidents - speeding!
According to the Department of Traffic Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the most accidents in 2013 happened in the capital. Behind her are Donetsk, Odessa and Kharkov regions. Closes the top five "leaders" Dnipropetrovsk. Trying to read traffic rules in Western Ukraine - in Ternopil, Rivne, Chernivtsi and Transcarpathian regions. Safe can be considered and Kirovograd region. However, if you calculate the number of accidents per 1000 people, the Odessa region rises to the second place, the Kharkov region and the Donetsk region occupy the third and fourth regions, the Dnipropetrovsk region occupies the fifth place (see infographic).
It is noteworthy that in the Lviv region, which by the number of the population is ahead of Odessa, the percentage of accidents is lower by 0.003%. But in general, compared to 2012, Ukrainians began to get into accidents less: 196 thousand accidents against 190 thousand.
The reasons. In the department of traffic police say that the most accidents occur due to speeding. The second most common reason is a violation of the rules of maneuvering. By the way, in 2012 the situation was the opposite - accidents more often occurred due to improper maneuvering, and not because of the desire of drivers to “drive”. The leaders also got a violation of the rules for driving through intersections, hitting pedestrians and non-compliance with the distance. The rarest causes of accidents are the negligence of animal drivers (only 6 such cases were registered) and violation of the passage of large vehicles (for example, an overloaded wagon turned over) - four accidents.
Blame the road
The fact that the list of the most emergency cities does not actually change is not surprising, says Sergei Budnik, head of the Center for Traffic Safety and Automated Systems of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. “Kiev, Odessa, Donetsk, Kharkov are the largest regions in Ukraine. Here more people live, respectively, and more cars are registered. Therefore, I think that this is the main reason, ”explained Budnik. The policeman notes that the causes of accidents continue to remain standard: “Most often, we are faced with speeding, violation of the rules of overtaking and driving while intoxicated.”
But the road control activists think otherwise: according to them, the main reason is bad roads. “Such a large number of accidents is primarily associated with a very poor road surface,” said Yegor Vorobyev, spokesman for the Road Control Service. “Drivers drive around the pits and get into an accident.” Another cause of accidents in the regions, according to the DC, is confusion with road signs - they are not always visible from the road.
According to the traffic police, the number of accidents that occurred because of inadequate pavement in the past year is relatively small — only 114.
Recall that in November last year, the Cabinet of Ministers allocated an additional 3.82 billion UAH to the roads in the regions, which should have been spent on patching holes on secondary streets.
Last year was remembered by the increased number of accidents involving buses and minibuses. According to the traffic police, in 2013, 170 people died in such accidents. Here lead Kiev, Donetsk, Lviv, Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhia regions.
