UPD: 02/05/2014 Sanctions against Ukrainian officials will be introduced at the end of February. We are disappointed with the use of force, - European Parliament
The European Parliament may impose sanctions against Ukrainian officials responsible for violence against members of the Euromaidan until the end of February of this year.
About this in an interview with Deutsche Welle said Vice President of the European Parliament Jacek Protasevich, informs RBC-Ukraine.
"The main message of the resolution (the vote on which is scheduled for February 6 in the European Parliament. - Ed.) Is contained in paragraph 13. In it, the European Parliament calls on European institutions to take immediate measures, including diplomatic pressure, the application of certain visa restrictions and the freezing of foreign capital and property of those Ukrainian officials, lawmakers and oligarchs who are personally responsible for unleashing the violence and death of protesters "
Also, according to the European official, the resolution calls to pay attention to the facts of tax evasion, money laundering by Ukrainian companies and businessmen through European banks.
Speaking about when the sanctions mechanism referred to in the resolution can be put into effect, Protasevich noted: “After the resolution is adopted, we need several weeks for the EU Council of Foreign Ministers to make an appropriate decision. It should be adopted unanimously.” According to him, the list of "applicants" for sanctions will be prepared by diplomatic circles of the European Union and EU member states after the adoption of the resolution.
"It will be discussed at a meeting of the EU Council of Foreign Ministers, and the final decision is likely to be made before the end of February," the European official explained.
In general, according to Protasevich, the tone of the resolution will undoubtedly be harsh.
“It will reflect the disappointment of the European Parliament in the development of the political situation in Ukraine. But I want to emphasize: we are disappointed not by the decision of the Ukrainian authorities not to sign an association agreement with the EU (since official Kiev had the legal right to make such a decision). Our disappointment is caused by the use of excessive force against peaceful demonstrators of the Maidan and the lack of goodwill on the part of the authorities to find a compromise out of the domestic political crisis in which Ukraine is now, "- emphasized n.
Recall that today in the European Parliament there will be a debate on the situation in Ukraine, and tomorrow, February 6, a resolution should be voted.
UPD: 02/05/2014 The Ministry of Justice claims that the laws of "Black Thursday" have lost force
The Ministry of Justice emphasizes that since February 2, 2014, copies of the standard texts of regulatory legal acts have been restored.
The Ministry of Justice of Ukraine restored the norms of laws that were changed in connection with the adoption of laws of January 16, 2014, and returned them to their original form. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Justice, informs the Censor NO with reference to LB.
"On January 16, 2014, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the laws of Ukraine No. 721-VII, No. 722-VII, No. 723-VII, No. 724-VII, No. 725-VII, No. 726-VII, No. 727-VII, No. 728- VII, No. 729-VII. In the Unified State Register of Normative Legal Acts, works were carried out to maintain in control condition and the previous version of the provisions of codes and laws was amended, which were amended by the laws of Ukraine of January 16, 2014 No. 721-VII, No. 722-VII, No. 723-VII, No. 724-VII, No. 725-VII, No. 726-VII, No. 727-VII, No. 728-VII, No. 729-VII, which have expired in accordance with the law of Ukraine of January 28 2014 year number 732-VII "
Thus, from February 2, 2014, copies of the reference texts of the relevant regulatory legal acts were restored.
We will remind, earlier it was reported that most of the norms of scandalous laws of January 16, restricting civil liberties, continue to be valid after the decision of the Verkhovna Rada to abolish them.
We also note that most of the norms of laws of January 16, restricting civil liberties, continue to be valid after the decision of the Verkhovna Rada to abolish them. On February 2, Law No. 732-VII came into force, which was adopted on January 28 and was supposed to be part of a compromise between the government and the opposition. The document invalidates 9 laws adopted by the Rada at a scandalous meeting on January 16, including Law N721-VII, which introduces numerous restrictions on rights and freedoms, criminalizes a number of actions related to the holding of protests, and toughens penalties for offenses.
The official legislative base posted on the parliament’s website does not indicate that such norms have indeed been repealed - all provisions of the scandalous law remain in force. For example, in Art. 122 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (CAO) is still a paragraph on the fine and seizure of a vehicle for the movement of a convoy of more than five cars. A note to this article states that the Rada’s apparatus took into account the termination of Law No. 721, but leaves a new paragraph in the Code of Administrative Offenses.
