UPD: 08/13/2014 Ukraine called on FIFA and UEFA for sanctions against the Football Union of Russia
The Football Federation of Ukraine called on FIFA and UEFA to impose sanctions on the Russian Football Union in response to the adoption of the Crimean clubs in the RFU.
This is stated in the appeal of the President of the FFU Anatoly Konkov
Konkov said that the RFU did not officially inform either the UEFA or FIFA, but on August 12, he allowed three clubs from the Crimea to participate in the Russian Cup. This decision was made in violation of the statutory norms of FIFA, UEFA, FFU and RFU.
"As president of the Ukrainian National Association, I appeal to you to take the necessary measures to address the current situation, including the application of legal sanctions to the party that violated the regulations and ignored the basic principles of higher football instances. Crimea is part of Ukraine, therefore all of the Crimea’s football entities are under the jurisdiction of the Football Federation of Ukraine ", - said in a statement.
Recall that in early June, the Crimean football clubs “Sevastopol” and the Simferopol “Tavria”, who played in the Premier League of Ukraine, decided to change their names to the IC of the Black Sea Fleet and “Skiff”, respectively, in order to get into the Russian championship. The RFU was about to consider accepting them.
On June 12, FIFA President Joseph Blatter ruled out an option in which the Crimean clubs would go to the Russian championship only because Russia occupied the peninsula. Earlier, FIFA General Secretary Jerome Valcké refused the request to join the Crimean football clubs to the Russian Football Union.
