The riots in Odessa, the continuation of the ATO and other incident the hottest May Day in the history of Ukraine.
4 days off brought Ukraine a new round of confrontation in the South-East. Clashes and riots have already reached Odessa, and in the Donetsk region, activities continued as part of the antiterrorist operation.
At the same time, on May 1, with its parades and processions, it passed quite calmly, and the peak of unrest fell on May 2-3.
Odessa in the blood
Meeting football fans "Chernomorets" and "Metalist" before the match teams in the Ukrainian championship ended in tragedy. Fans along with activists of the city planned to hold a march in support of the unity of Ukraine.
Several hundred anti-Maidan supporters came to stop them with bats, shields and in full gear. A fight ensued between the parties.
At the same time, the police acted rather sluggishly, ineffectively, and was unable to stop the confrontation. Some eyewitnesses noted the presence of law enforcement officers and pro-Russian activists of the same red bandages on their sleeves.
During clashes in the city center, several supporters of the unity of Ukraine were killed by gunshot wounds. This development has caused outrage among Odessa’s residents who went to the Kulikovo Field, the location of the anti-Maidan camp.
The camp was burned down, pro-Russian activists hid in the House of Trade Unions. As a result of the collisions, the building was also burnt.
During the riots and fire in the House of Trade Unions, 46 people were killed, some of them Russian citizens.

New storm of Slavyansk
On the morning of May 2, the special forces of the Ukrainian army again attacked the separatist checkpoints near Slavyansk.
At about 4.00 am, the special units of the Ukrainian army attacked the roadblocks of the militia near Slavyansk. On the outskirts of the city center are fighting. Shells explosions and machine guns are heard. There is a siren in the city, and thick black smoke stretches from the outskirts.
The militia shot down two Ukrainian MI-24 helicopters, as a result of which two soldiers died and another was wounded and captured.
During the assault, Ukrainian soldiers managed to capture all 10 checkpoints around Slavyansk, a television tower and surround the city. Railway communication with Slavyansk was interrupted.
Soon, as the media learned, Ukrainian troops took the Slavyansk television center on Mount Karachun, south of Bylbasovka and Slavyansk.
"People's Mayor" and the leader of self-defense of Slavyansk Vyacheslav Ponomarev reported the death of a pilot of one of two Ukrainian helicopters shot down by militiamen. According to him, Ukrainian helicopters are firing at the city with rockets. Information about the destruction yet.
The commander of one of the roadblocks on the outskirts of Slavyansk reported that the Ukrainian military had seized the barricade on the way to the city, as well as the city telecentre, RIA Novosti reports.
As of 8:00 am, the Slavyansk self-defense forces report a temporary suspension of fire by the attackers.
Also, according to them, the movement of trains, electric trains, public transport was completely stopped in Slavyansk. The city is moving to a blockade situation, say the members of the Slavyansk group act.
According to Vyacheslav Ponomarev, the “people's mayor” of Slavyansk, the first victims appeared during the anti-terrorist operation. According to him, according to preliminary data, one person died and one was wounded.
Soon, Arsen Avakov confirmed that the active phase of the anti-terrorist operation in the Slavyansk-Kramatorsk region began today at 04.30 am. According to him, against the Ukrainian special forces opened fire with the use of heavy weapons. Including rocket launchers and MANPADS. There is a dead pilot and wounded. The operation continues as planned, Avakov assured.
At the moment, according to him, in Slavyansk the Ukrainian troops took control of all 10 checkpoints of the protesters.
In turn, supporters of the protesters in Slavyansk actively began to build barricades on Svoboda Street.
In Mariupol, the battle began: the tires are burning, shots sound
Events similar to the antiterrorist operation (ATO) unfold in Mariupol, local site 0629 reports.
It is noted that at about 22:00 in the center of the city shots rang out. According to unconfirmed information, armed people are trying to capture Mariupol.
According to eyewitnesses, at about 9:00 pm, at a checkpoint in Mangush, there was a clash with unidentified people in camouflage. An hour later, the riots began in Mariupol.
Shots can be heard in the city center. Police raised on alarm.
The whole center is on fire. The tires are burning.
It is noted that the invaders of the city council left the mayor's office and are with other people on the street.
The social networks spread information that it is impossible to gather people outside the city council building, so as not to make them "cannon fodder."
Counterattack separatists under Andreevka
On the evening of May 2, in the area of the village of Andreevka, near Slavyansk, a group of separatists attacked military personnel of the 95th separate airborne brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
In the course of the armed confrontation, two Ukrainian soldiers were killed.
OSCE representatives released
On May 3, the separatists in Slavyansk handed over Secretary of the OSCE mission to the Secretary of the Council of Europe Thorbjørn Jagland and the ombudsman for Russia Vladimir Lukin.
Lukin specially arrived in Ukraine to release the mission.
Later, the SBU published a recording of his conversation with the head of the separatist militia in Slavyansk Strelkom, confirming Russia's connection with the separatists.
After Slavyansk, the ATO continued on May 3 in Kramatorsk. During the operation, the Ukrainian military took a radio and television transmission station in Kramatorsk, liberated the SBU building in the city, unblocked the Kramatorsk airport, and eliminated the separatist checkpoints.
Retreating, the militiamen burned several trolleybuses and buses in the city, which paralyzed public transport. 6 people were killed during the operation, 15 were hospitalized
In total, during the ATU, the SBU detained about 40 saboteurs, four of whom are citizens of Ukraine.
At the same time, the separatists claim that they still hold the center of Kramatorsk.
Shooting in Lugansk
On the night of May 3, in Lugansk, armed men with St. George ribbons tried to storm the military commissariat. The National Guard repulsed an assault attempt, but in the course of it one conscript soldier was wounded.

May 4 in Lugansk shot near the building of the SBU, one person was injured.
At the same time, unrest continued to take place in the cities of Donetsk and Luhansk region, administrative buildings were seized and vacated. Arsonings and defeats of Privatbank branches became a special trend of the weekend.
In Odessa, the situation has not calmed down, there are still clashes in the city and it is restless.
It remains only to wait for the next weekend, which falls on another holiday - May 9th.
