The National Bank has chosen to renew the design of a 100-hryvnia note, guided by the degree of wear of such banknotes, and not by the level of their forgery.
The level of fake hryvnia banknotes is insignificant and corresponds to the level of 2013, said Deputy Director of the Department of Money Circulation of the National Bank of Ukraine Vladimir Tishchenko during the presentation of the updated 100-hryvnia banknote with an increased level of protection, reports Unian.
According to him, the National Bank has chosen to renew the design of 100 hryvnias banknotes, guided by the degree of depreciation of such banknotes, and not by the level of their forgery.
"The level of forgery is at the level of 2013. That is, three and four tenths of counterfeit banknotes for one million real banknotes, which are in circulation, "Tishchenko said.
According to him, among these counterfeit banknotes, banknotes of 20, 50 and 100 hryvnias are most often found. He also stressed that the issue of new banknotes is within the planned increase in cash for this year, and 100-hryvna banknotes of the old model will be in circulation on a par with the new ones.
As UNIAN reported, from March 9, 2015, the National Bank will issue banknotes in nominal value of UAH 100 of the sample of 2014 with an improved protection system. The renewal of the 100-hryvna banknote is the result of a long-term project of the regulator to update the previous series of national currency banknotes of the 2003-2007 sample.
