Rules of the game. Information about the rules of the game was provided by: Tuomas Korppi, Esko Heimonen and Mikko Saari. Maryapussi from Finnish translates as "bag of berries", although the real name of the game came from the French word "mariage". There are 4 players who make up two partnerships (two by two), the partners sit at the table opposite each other. The game uses a deck of 36 cards, although it is possible to play a deck of 32 or 28 cards, where accordingly all 6 or all 6 and all 7 are deleted. Each card has its own cost in two systems of scoring: in simplified and original.

Map

Simplified system

Initial system

Ace 10 points 11 points
10 10 points 10 points
King 5 points 4 points
Lady 5 points 3 points
Knave 5 points 2 points
9, 8, 7, 6 0 points 0 points

Thus, with a simplified system, the total value of the cards is 140 points, with the original system, the total value of the cards is 120 points. Before the game, players must decide what scoring system they will use. All players must use the same system.

The full game consists of several games (rounds). For one game (round), players give in and play all their cards. The game goes clockwise. The first deliverer in the game is determined randomly by lot, in the next games players give cards in turn. So, the deck is carefully worn by the handler and each player is dealt 9 cards each with a deck of 36 cards, 8 cards with a deck of 32 cards and 7 cards with a deck of 28 cards. Cards are dealt one at a time. After the cards are dealt, players begin to draw cards.

Drawing. At the first draw of cards trump suit is not yet. The first move in the game belongs to the player to the left of the handler. He can go with any of his cards, and every next player clockwise must put a card of the same suit, if there is no such card, then put a trump card, if there is no trump card, then put any card. The player who places the highest card in the suit of the first turn card or the oldest trump card, takes the laid out cards (bribe) to himself, puts them in front of him in a closed form and goes first in the draw of the following cards (bribes). A player who takes a bribe can declare a trump suit, there are 3 ways to declare a trump suit:

1. If a player has a marjage - a king and a lady of the same suit, then he can declare the suit of these cards as a trump;

2. A player can ask his partner about a marjage, and if he has a brandy, one of the partners announces the trump suit, which is the suit of the marjazh;

3. If the player has half of the make-up, he can ask his partner about the other half of this marjazh and declare the suit of this marjazh trump.

When you declare a trump suit, only one of the above methods is used. Still it is worth noting that in the marjage you can not include cards that have already played, the cards must be in hand during the announcement of the trump suit. And yet, when announcing a marjazh, a player can declare it, and not to announce a suit of trump cards, in this case, the draw of cards will continue without a trump card. Thus, players play all the cards, after which the scoring starts.

Scoring. When calculating there are game points and points for cards, do not confuse them with each other. After all the cards have been played, each team of partners counts points for the cards they took in bribes. A team that has scored 75 or more points on a simplified system or 61 or more points on the original system will receive 1 game point. In addition to this point, teams can earn game points:

2 game points for the successful announcement of a trump suit;

1 point for an ad not a trump suit;

1 point for taking the last bribe;

1 point for taking more points in the cards (in case of a draw, this point is not awarded to anyone).

The team of players (partners), who first collect 10 or more points, becomes the winner in the full game. Let me remind you that the full game consists of several rounds.

Game options. Some play so that the owner of the ace of clubs goes first in the first trick and is the deliverer in the second round of the game. There is a variant of the game where the player should not only put in the draw a card of the same suit, but also that it is the highest in value, provided that such a card is present. There is also such a variant of the game when the player who walks first in the first trick is to go with an ace, if he has it, if he does not have an ace, then he must walk from the peak suit card.
