After the final splicing of the frame of the fuselage, the moment came to cover it with a ceiling. This is a very laborious matter. Practice has shown that the structure of the ceiling tiles reminds the directed fibers (in appearance you will not tell). Therefore, if necessary, strongly bend it and not break it, you need to determine the direction of these fibers. We cut off a piece from the tile and bent on a blank d = 20 mm if it broke or crumpled meaning and the cut out workpiece would break. You'll have to rotate the sheet 90 degrees and cut out the workpiece. Now it bends without breaking or wrinkling. And one more thing - it is desirable for the skinners to choose the leaves of the ceiling, which seem more flimsy or thin.
The skin was held in several stages, each time waiting for the glue to dry completely.
After the bodywork, we placed in the fuselage places for fastening the steering wheels of the elevator, the rudder and the carburetor choke control. When choosing the installation sites for machines, it is necessary to take into account their easy replacement (installation - dismantling) without removing the remaining units (tank, receiver, etc.).
To fasten the machines used scraps of racks of suitable cross-section, pasted between the power elements of the fuselage. The steering aileron was located right on the wing. Because The wing should be easily removed for easy storage and transportation of the model. Behind the lower part of the fuselage there is a hatch of 2mm plywood for access to the steering cars.
Also, from the ceiling, for the strength of the two layers glued together, a tail and rudders of direction and height were made. Ailerons are cut from the ceiling and covered with a film, which gives them the necessary strength.
When the location of all the components was determined, we proceeded to wrap the model with a film. We used the most common self-adhesive film. Picking it accordingly in color. From the same film, we cut out and paste the application (number, lightning, stars).
Pasting with a film is no less laborious occupation than a covering with a ceiling. From how you manage to implement it will depend on the appearance of the model. Do not forget that the film still has a protective function. After all, when the model is operated from the muffler, hot oil and unburned fuel are incident on it. It is impossible that this mixture would fall on glue stitches and on wooden surfaces. Therefore, all the joints of the films are made with a small overlap of about 3 mm.
Slowly but surely we moved on to the final result, and there is still paint ahead! The paint was carried out with a spray gun, but you can apply a balonchik. If you do not want to mess with the paint, then the "spots" can be cut out of the film and pasted. We also painted the nose of the model.
Having finished pasting and painting from cocktail tubes and polystyrene glued a mock silencer. The stars and lightnings were cut from color films. We painted the aircraft according to the scheme of coloring the squadron of the French pilots who fought on the side of the USSR during the Second World War.
Now they sent the model to the scales with a refilled tank and installed equipment with batteries and received 1260 grams. Weight at a span of 1100 mm and a length of 900 mm. What is considered quite acceptable. The attached drawing assumes a weight of 1600 grams.
Now about manageability:
Despite the assertion that the copying models do not fly very well - in our opinion the model is perfectly controlled and forgives some "braking" of the pilot, it is very stable and can be kept in the air at a low speed, which makes it possible to plant the model normally. The fuel is enough for 10-15 minutes. Unhurried flight at medium revs.
