Any hit in the eye, due to refraction in the lens, can burn several cells in the eye. Direct contact will cause loss of vision. A ray reflected from the mirror surface is also dangerous. Scattered is not so dangerous, but still does not add any sharpness to the sight.

The focused beam leaves a fairly deep groove on the black plastic, and in a transparent plexiglass at the point of focus a small spot of white or mirror color appears. First, you will need a faulty DVD-RW (with faulty mechanics and not a laser). Although not every DVD can be broken, for example Samsung does not fit at all, there are open-frame diodes and the crystal is not protected by anything, it is disabled by a simple touch to the end .. LG is best, only different drives have different power diodes.

The power of the installed diode can be determined from such a characteristic of the drive: it is necessary to look at how fast it writes double-layer disks, if at the tenth, then the power of the diode is one hundred and eighty - two hundred, if on the sixteenth - two hundred fifty-two hundred and seventy.

If you do not have a defective DVD-drive, then first try to purchase a laser on the radio market separately. If it does not work out then we get a faulty DVD from the junkies.

Next, unscrew the screws from the DVD-drive, remove the cover. Below it you will find the laser carriage drive unit.

Although DVD-drives differ, in any one there are two guides, along which the carriage of the laser moves. Remove the screws, free the guides and remove the carriage. Disconnect the connectors and flat cable cables.

After taking the carriage out of the drive, start disassembling the device from unwinding the screws. There will be many small screws, so be patient.

Disconnect the cables from the carriage. There may be two diodes, one for reading the disk (infrared diode) and the actual red diode, with which the burn is carried out. You need a second.

A printed circuit board is attached to the red diode using three screws. Use a soldering iron for 3 screws to remove the screws carefully.

You will be able to check the diode using two finger batteries, taking into account the polarity. You will have to pull the diode out of the housing, which will differ depending on the drive. The laser diode is a very fragile part, so be extremely careful.

So your diode should look like after "release".

Remove the sticker from the case of the purchased laser pointer AixiZ and untwist the case on the upper and lower parts. Inside the top there is a laser diode (5 mW), which we will replace. I used the X-Acto knife and after two light strokes, the native diode came out. Actually, with such actions the diode can be damaged, but I managed to avoid it earlier. Using a very small screwdriver, knocked out the radiator.

I used a little hot glue and carefully installed a new DVD diode in the AixiZ case. With pliers, I SLOWLY squeezed the edge of the diode toward the body until it was flush.

Make sure that the polarity of the diode is determined correctly before you install it and reconnect the power! You may need to shorten the wiring and adjust the focus of the beam.

Place the laser pointer into a suitable flashlight for two batteries. Insert the batteries (AA) into place, tighten the top of the flashlight (diffuser), including your new laser pointer! Plexiglas must be removed from the reflector. Attention!! Laser diodes are dangerous, so do not aim at people or animals.
