Stained glass. Painting glass with stained-glass paints.

Previously, on the Stained Glass page , Tiffany's technique. The method of manufacturing true stained glass windows was described. But unfortunately, for some, this method turned out to be quite complicated while requiring material costs. The most affordable way to make stained glass , which I bring to your attention - painting the glass with stained glass .

So, a step-by-step example of glass painting.

Glass painting with stained-glass paints

Let's start with the tools that we need

Stained-glass paints

- a marker on the glass (color is your decision)
- a palette, contours, a tip (for squeezing out of more thin line of a contour)
- wadding sticks, to fix jambs =)
- Of course, stained-glass paints, it is better a lot%)

Honestly I tell you from the brand probably depends on your desired result. I used before marabu , now it's Vitrail - stained-glass paints (transparent) already 18 colors of the rainbow !!! =) These paints have a solvent base, which just guarantees the production of a "smooth" surface in the final result. Strengthened in the entire product line lightfastness. The colors react differently to the effect of light. Inaccuracies, mistakes are corrected with the help of white spirit. Thermo treatments do not require. Dry for 4 hours (before feeling dry to the touch), 12 hours after each coat before applying the next, 3 days before completely drying before use or washing. Paint, of course, only for decorative purposes and wash them is not desirable strong washing-up liquids, it is better to manually gently slightly warm water (well, everything as usual, in general).
I'm satisfied =)

- thinners (white spirit)
- Needle, the most common for eliminating those most hated bubbles
- Brushes (better synthetic) and a cloth for excess paint (tip: after rinsing the brush from the paint in the diluent it is convenient to wipe it, and then to recruit paint again)

Stained glass

- the tablet is lined up (I have such a small, very convenient way to mark out a sketch on it, then I put a white sheet of paper, you can just as easily draw a beautiful edging from hieroglyphics, for example, it's still very convenient to glue a painting tape on it and cut out for you by glass drawn by you Same stencils)

When this all is available - it's wonderful =) But you can always do and a minimum. Shaders, as you know, can already be done.
Then the process itself: how, what and why.

1. Draw with a thumbnail marker (you can and immediately outline)

The composition with each time a little bit is modified - the pain of creativity *)))

2. And when the picture is already drawn, we grab the contour in the paws and gently squeeze along the lines.

To make the line thinner it is not necessary to take the tips, you can pull the line-contour

The contour drawing is finished - let's grab the contour for your own convenience of applying paint, at least for about 20-30 minutes.

3. And then - the riot of colors Let's talk more ...

As for the smoothness of the application of paint. In this case, since the sections are not so large and the surface of the glass is flat, then here I use a brush =)
If you want, that smears and divorces by a brush did not turn out, and there was pleasant glossiness, it is necessary to catch "to catch a drop" (so it was led, that I to myself thought up such concept =) - I will explain). A jar of paint is best kept close. You type a brush with a possible amount of paint (depending on the area you are going to color), drip onto the section and paint the paint carefully neatly in one direction.

Perhaps you will ask, how to be, because at one time you will not paint with a brush, for example, this face? I will answer that yes, of course. It is necessary to type the paint repeatedly, in fact, and in order to achieve the best result, you need to choose the angle from which you will paint the sections (here I chose the eye) and gradually move.

One important piece of advice: if you started to paint a section, then do not stop and move on until you finish! Otherwise, the paint will have time to grab and the next portion will form a marriage in the direction of the line you do not need. So paint gradually.
