The muscle that leads the thumb of the hand , m. Adductor pollicis, - the deepest of the muscles of the elevation of the thumb of the hand. It has two heads, the muscle beams of which are directed at an angle to each other: a) the oblique head, caput obliquum, starts from the radial ligament of the wrist, the head bone and the palmar surface of the II and III metacarpal bones; B) transverse head, caput transversum, - from palmar surface of 3rd metacarpal bone and heads of II and III metacarpal bones. Coming at an angle, the muscle bundles are attached to the base of the proximal phalanx of the thumb, the elbow sesamoid bone and the capsule of the metacarpophalangeal joint.
Function: brings the thumb of the hand and takes part in flexing its proximal phalanx.
Innervation: n. Ulnaris (СVIII).
Blood supply: arcus palmares superficialis et profundus.
