The ilio-lumbar muscle
Ilio-lumbar muscle , m. Iliopsoas, is formed as a result of the connection of distal muscular bundles m. Iliaci and m. Psoatis majoris. The muscle from the pelvic cavity leaves through the muscular lacuna and, going downwards, passes along the front surface of the hip joint , attaching a thin short tendon to the small trochanter of the femur .
Here are two bags: the larger one lies between the capsule of the joint and the tendon of the muscle - the ileum-scallop bag, bursa iliopectinea, the second - the subclavicular iliac bag, bursa subtendinea iliaca, - between the tendon of the muscle and the small trochanter.

Function: flexes the hip in the hip joint, rotating it outward; With a fixed thigh tilts (bends) the trunk forward.
Innervation: rr. Musculares plexus lumbalis (LI-LII).
Blood supply: aa. Iliolumbalis. Circumflexa ilium profunda.
