Articular muscle of the knee , m. Articularis genus, - a flat plate consisting of several well-defined muscle bundles; Lies on the front surface of the thigh under the m. Vasti intermedii. The muscle originates from the anterior surface of the lower third of the femur and, going down, is attached to the anterior and lateral surfaces of the capsule of the knee joint .

Function: pulls the capsule of the knee joint.

Innervation: n. Femoralis (LIII-LIV).

Blood supply: a. Circumflexa femoris lateralis, rr. Perforantes a. Profundae femoris.
