Long flexor of fingers

The long flexor of the fingers , m. Flexor digitorum longus, occupies the most medial position of all the muscles of this group, located on the posterior surface of the tibia . The muscle originates from the middle third of the posterior surface of the tibia and from the deep fascia fascia sheet. Going down, passes into a long tendon, which bends around the medial malleolus, settling under retinaculum mm. Flexorum. Then the tendon goes to the sole, going obliquely outward, and is divided into four separate tendons that follow the II-V toes of the foot, attaching to the bases of the distal phalanges. Before attachment, each tendon perforates the tendon of the short flexor of the fingers, m. Flexor digitorum brevis.

Function: folds the distal phalanges of the II-V toes of the foot, takes part in flexing the foot, lifting its medial edge (spinning).

Innervation: n. Tibialis (LV-SII).

Blood supply: a. Tibialis posterior.
