The rear interosseous muscle
The rear intercostals muscles, mm. interossei dorsales, four in number, fill the back of the all the intercostals spaces. Every muscle originates from facing one another of two adjacent sides of the metatarsal bones and, going forward, is attached to the base of the proximal phalanx II-IV fingers, and woven into the rear fascia.
Function: the first interosseous muscle pulls II toe in the medial direction, the second, third and fourth shifting II-IV fingers in the lateral direction; All four muscles flex the proximal phalanx and straightened the middle and distal phalanges of these fingers.
Innervation: n. plantaris lateralis (SI-SII).
Blood supply: arcus plantaris, aa. metatarseae plantares.
