Muscles that tense the vocal cords
Transcranialis muscle , m. Cricothyroideus, a steam room, is located on the anterolateral surface of the larynx , along the sides of the midline. It starts from the arch of the cricoid cartilage and, moving obliquely upward and laterally, is attached to the lower edge of the thyroid cartilage , reaching the lower horn. In the muscle, the straight part is distinguished, the pars recta, which is separated from the lower thyroid tubercle from the oblique part, pars obliqua, located posteriorly and extending almost horizontally. The muscle tilts the thyroid cartilage anteriorly, as a result of which it separates from the arytenoid cartilage and the vocal cords tighten.
