Lacrimal bone

Lacrimal bone , os lacrimale, paired, is located in the anterior part of the medial wall of the orbit and has the shape of an oblong quadrangular plate. The upper edge of it joins the orbital part of the frontal bone , forming a frontal -lacrimal suture, the sutura frontolacrimalis, the posterior with the anterior edge of the orbital plate of the trellis and forms the latticotal suture, sutura ethmoidolacrimalis. The lower edge of the tearing bone on the border with the ornate surface of the upper jaw forms a lacrimal maxillary suture, sutura lacrimomaxillaris, and with the teardrop of the inferior shell - the lacrimal suture, sutura lacrimoconchalis. Ahead bone connects with the frontal process of the upper jaw, forming a tear-maxillary suture, sutura lacrimomaxillaris.

The bone covers the front cells of the latticed bone and carries on its lateral surface a posterior lacrimal crista, crista lacrimalis posterior, which divides it into the posterior section, larger, and anterior, smaller. The crest ends with a protrusion - a tear crochet, hamulus lacrimalis. The latter is directed to the tear sulcus on the frontal process of the upper jaw. The posterior section is flattened, anteriorly concave and forms a lacrimal groove, sulcus lacrimalis. This furrow together with the tear sulcus of the upper jaw, sulcus lacrimalis maxillae, forms a fossa of the lacrimal sac, fossa sacci lacrimalis, which continues into the nasolacrimal canal, canalis nasolacrimalis. The canal opens into the lower nasal passage , meatus nasalis inferior.
