Vomer

The vomer, vomer, is an unpaired, elongated plate in the form of a rhombus, forming the posterior part of the nasal septum.

Vomer
The opener, with the exception of its posterior margin, is usually somewhat curved to the side.
The upper edge of the opener is thicker than the others. It is divided by the furrow of the opener, sulcus vomeris, into two outwardly bent branches - the vomer's wings , alae vomeris. They adjoin the lower surface of the body of the sphenoid bone and cover its beak, forming a wedge-vomerous suture, sutura sphenovomeriana. Such seams slope to schindiles, schyndilesis. This site is a wedge-shaped part of the opener, pars cuneiformis vomeris.

The posterior margin of the bone is the khonial crest, crista choanalis vomeris, a little pointed, divides the posterior holes of the nasal cavity - choanae , choanae.

The anterior and lower margins are rough. The lower edge connects with the nasal crest of the upper jaw and palatine bone , and the anterior (oblique) - at the top with a perpendicular plate of the latticed bone , below - with the cartilage of the septum of the nose.
