The vestibule of the vagina. Large glands of the vestibule

The vestibule of the vagina , vestibulum vaginae, is the space between the small labia. It is a small cavity bounded from the front by the clitoris, from behind by the bridle of the labia minora, from the sides by the inner surfaces of the labia minora.

Above, at the level of the hymen (or its remains), through the opening of the vagina, ostium vaginae, the vestibule communicates with the vaginal cavity. Below the clitoris and above the threshold of the vagina, on the top of the papilla is the external opening of the urethra (urethra), ostium urethrae externum. Between the holes of the vagina and the urethra, you can see the urethral carina of the vagina, carina urethralis vaginae. In front of the frenum of the labia minora and posteriorly from the vestibule of the vagina there is a small indentation - the fovea of the vestibule vestibule, fossa vestibuli vaginae, well expressed in nulliparous.

Near the external opening of the urethra are the mouths of the paraurethral ducts (right and left), ductus paraurethrales (dexter et sinister). On both sides of the vestibule vestibule there are numerous, various sizes of the hole - the mouth of the ducts of the large glands of the vestibule, glandulae vestibulares majores, and small vestibular glands, glandulae vestibulares minores.

Large gland of the vestibule , glandula vestibularis major, paired, structurally complex alveolar-tubular. It is located at the base of the large labia, under the posterior end of the onion bulb and bulbous-spongy muscle and is surrounded by muscle fibers.

The gland is round, yellowish-reddish, the size of a large pea.

A single excretory duct of each gland up to 2 cm in length.

The duct is directed anteriorly and opens with a small opening in the vestibule of the vagina, on the inner surface of the small lip, at the border between the posterior and middle thirds.

The gland corresponds to the bulbourethral gland of a man.

Innervation: plexus pudendus and branches of sympathetic plexuses around the vessels that feed the gland.

Blood supply: a. Bulbi vestibuli (a. Pudenda interna). Venous blood flows partially into bulbi vestibuli or directly to v. Pudenda interna. Lymphatic vessels divert lymph to nodi lymphatici iliaci interni.
