Tar-calcaneus-navicular joint

The tar-calcaneus-navicular joint , articulitio talocalcaneonavicularis, is formed by articular surfaces of the talus, heel and scaphoid bones. The talus bone forms the joint head, and the calcaneus and scaphoid bone are the articular fossa.

The joint capsule is attached to the edge of the articular cartilage.

The joint is strengthened by the following ligaments:

2. Plantar calcaneoclavicular ligament, lig. Calcaneonaviculare plantare, following from the support of the talus to the plantar surface of the scaphoid bone. The upper part of this ligament passes into the fibrous cartilage, which takes part in the formation of the articular fossa of the joint.

The cusp-foot-navicular joint in form refers to the globular joints, but movements in it are possible only around the axis in one sagittal plane.
