Dust mites cause disease, kill them with this simple solution!
Mites of house dust, or dust mites (lat. Dermatophagoides) are synanthropic mites that live in people's homes, which can cause an allergic reaction in people - tick-borne sensitization.
Most people have no idea about these "animals", and should be aware, that's why!
- Domain: Eukaryotes
- Kingdom: Animals
- Type: Arthropods
- Class: Arachnids
- Squad: Astigmata
- Family: Pyroglyphidae
- Gender: Dust Mites
- International scientific name: Dermatophagoides Bogdanov, 1864
The size of ticks ranges from 0.1 to 0.5 mm. Widely distributed throughout the globe. The normal cycle of their life is about 65-80 days, the female lays about 60 eggs at a time. An ideal habitat is an apartment with a temperature of 18-25 ° C. In addition, they like high humidity.
Household dust mites are one of the most common causes of asthma. These arachnids live in mattresses and carpets and feed on dead skin particles that a person loses daily in an amount of 1.5 g.
The mites themselves leave behind feces containing digestive enzymes: Der f1 and Der p1 proteins. They contribute to the destruction of the cells of the human skin that these creatures feed on, and can cause severe allergic reactions in some people.
Ticks live primarily in pillows, mattresses, bedspreads, sofas, etc. It is their excrement with a diameter of 30 micrometers that contains the P1 antigen that causes allergies.
Scientists from the University of Munich have proved that allergic reactions are much less common in children living in rural areas than in urban ones, due to early contact with animals and their food in the former and relatively sterile environmental conditions in the latter.
Household dust everywhere contains ticks of the genus Dermatophagoides, which live in paper books, upholstered furniture and carpets and feed on exfoliated particles of the human epidermis. Antigens of these ticks in people with hypersensitivity cause attacks of bronchial asthma, atopic dermatitis, allergic rhinitis and conjunctivitis. Treatment includes desensitization (using mite extracts) and dust control (wet cleaning, frequent vacuuming, removal of carpets from the bedroom, etc.).
In the formation of household allergies, mites of house dust play the role of mites - pyroglyphs Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus, Dermatophagoides farinae, Euroglyphus maynei, etc. Mites are found in carpets, slippers, soft furniture, under baseboards. For the development and reproduction of ticks, humidity above 55% and an air temperature of 22–26 ° C are necessary. In 70% of children with bronchial asthma, tick-borne allergies are detected. With tick-borne bronchial asthma, exacerbations occur in the spring-autumn period, especially at night.
To date, about 150 species of ticks have been found in house dust. They are called dermatophagoid or pyroglyphid ticks.
These tiny little bugs that live in bedding, carpets, or any upholstered furniture and love to eat dead skin cells. These ticks cause allergies and many health problems associated with asthma, as well as skin diseases.
Signs of a dust mite:
- runny nose
- itching or watery eyes
- itching in the nose, throat or palate,
- swollen, blue skin, in the area under the eyes
People who suffer from asthma will experience difficulty breathing, chest pain, shortness of breath, sleep problems, and increased susceptibility to colds.
Continuous vacuuming and washing bedding are a good way to eliminate dust mites, but some items such as pillows and mattresses are not so easy to clean.
There is a great way to eliminate dust mites by spraying a solution of eucalyptus oil .
What we need:
- 2 cups distilled water
- 15-30 drops of eucalyptus oil
Mode of application:
- Spray on all objects that you cannot clean in the usual way.
- Hang them to dry in a warm, dry place.
- Repeat 3 times a week to remove all dust mites.
Studies have shown that eucalyptus and other essential oils are effective in combating dust mites , in addition, it is eucalyptus oil that will do this without harm to you.
ATTENTION! Unfortunately, eucalyptus essential oil is not safe for children under the age of 10. However, there are other oils that are safe and also eliminate dust mites, such as clove and dill oil.
