Vitamin A


It causes a worsening of twilight vision - gemeralopia ("night blindness").
Symptoms and course:
In patients, the ability to navigate in space at dusk or in a dark room is sharply reduced, with good illumination the patient sees normally.
Recognition: on the basis of the clinic and contrastometry.
Treatment:
If the cause of the disease malnutrition, then "night blindness" passes quickly with the reception of vit. Or, with the use of food rich in it (fish oil, liver of animals and cod, fresh fruits, vegetables, especially carrots). Since vitamin A belongs to the group of fat-soluble substances, it is recommended sour cream, butter.
When the decrease in twilight vision is caused by other causes - retinal or eye damage (glaucoma, high myopia, optic nerve atrophy, retinal degeneration, cataract, etc.), then the underlying disease is treated (see also chapter Internal Diseases, section 7) .
