Epidemic Keratoconjunctivitis


The onset of the disease is acute, it affects first one, after 2-3 days another eye, manifestations resemble adenoviral conjunctivitis, but more pronounced follicle. There may be general malaise, headache, mild catarrhal phenomena. After 2 weeks against the background of the subsidence of clinical symptoms, vision deteriorates, there is photophobia, lacrimation. Point cores are visible on the cornea. The disease lasts up to 2 months. Superficial opacities and visual impairment persist up to 1-2 years.
Treatment:
Antiviral drugs are used as in adenoviral conjunctivitis. Opacification of the cornea resolves itself.
