Erythrocytes

Nuclear-free blood cells containing hemoglobin. Formed in the bone marrow. The number of erythrocytes is normal in men 4,000,000-5,000,000 in 1 μl of blood, in women 3,700,000-4,700,000. An increase in the number of erythrocytes is usually observed in diseases characterized by an elevated hemoglobin concentration. Reduction of erythrocytes is observed with a decrease in bone marrow function, with pathological changes in the bone marrow (leukemia, myeloma, metastasis of malignant tumors, etc.), due to increased disintegration of erythrocytes in hemolytic anemia, with iron deficiency and vitamin B12, bleeding.
