Cholleography

X-ray examination of the biliary tract after the administration of radiopaque substances. The intravenous method is used to assess the condition of the biliary tract and is the only way to study the concentration ability of the gallbladder. Other areas of choledography, especially when deciding on a possible surgical intervention on the biliary tract, sharply narrowed with the introduction of clinical methods of ultrasound and radiographic research.
Absolute contraindications to choledography are acute diseases of the liver and kidneys, intolerance to iodine preparations. During the preparation period, patients must follow a diet that restricts products that promote gas generation. Persons prone to allergic reactions are prescribed antihistamines within three days. In the morning on the day of the study, food, smoking and taking medicines are prohibited. With the slow intravenous injection of radiopaque substances, the occurrence of side effects is reduced.
When analyzing cholegrams, position, shape, contours, size and structure of the shadow of the bile duct and gall bladder are established, paying special attention to the presence of defects in filling, most often caused by stones. To study the motor function of the gallbladder, the patient is allowed to eat two raw egg yolks and fixes the duration of contraction of the gallbladder and the time of onset of its relaxation.
