The incubation period is usually 15-19 days. There is a short prodromal (initial) period, when weakness, malaise, pain in the muscles, headache, cognition, sleep, appetite are noted. With the development of inflammatory changes in the salivary gland there are signs of her defeat (dry mouth, ear pain, aggravated by chewing, talking). The disease can occur in both mild and severe forms.
Depending on this temperature can be from low-grade figures to 40 C, intoxication also depends on the degree of severity. A characteristic manifestation of the disease is the defeat of the salivary glands, most often parotid. The gland is enlarged, pain appears on the palpation, which is especially pronounced in front of the ear, behind the ear lobe and in the region of the mastoid process.
