Fractures of the upper jaw

With a fracture of the upper jaw, its fragments are shifted downwards, disrupting the habitual ratio of the teeth of the upper and lower jaws and slightly extending the face. As a result, the victim can not close his mouth, and the pain that occurs during fracture increases with any attempt. Gum tearing with fragments is accompanied by mild bleeding.
Symptoms and course:
Fracture, as a rule, occurs with a sufficiently strong impact. Loss of consciousness indicates a concussion of the brain, and the acute pain caused by the trauma can lead to the development of a shock state. The most severe combination injury occurs when the base of the skull is fractured.
First aid. It is aimed at creating rest conditions for the injured bone. To this end, the lower jaw is as close as possible to the upper jaw and fix them in this position with a bandage, a handkerchief, a belt through the cranial vault. You can use a ruler, knife, veneer, which in the transverse direction are superimposed on the teeth of the upper jaw and also fixed with any improvised material. Given the possibility of complications (bleeding, shortness of breath, loss of consciousness, etc.), transportation of the victim to the hospital should be urgent, preferably in a reclining position.
