Description of the medicine: Damilena malein (Damileni maleina)

DAMILENA MALEINATE (Damileni maleina s). 5- (3-Dimethylaminopropylidene) -10,11-dihydrodibenzocycloheptene maleate.

Synonym: Amitriptylini maleas.

White or yellowish crystalline powder. Little soluble in water, soluble in alcohol.

According to the structure of the active principle, the preparation does not differ from amitriptyline, but unlike it is not a hydrochloride, but a maleate.

Due to its pharmacological properties and therapeutic effect it has no advantages over amitriptyline.

Due to the higher relative molecular weight (393, 5) compared to that of amitriptyline hydrochloride (314), the damylen maleate must be administered in several large doses.

Usually the initial dose of the drug inside 0.025 g 3 times a day, then the dose is gradually increased to 0.15-0.3 g per day (sometimes up to 0.4 g) until the therapeutic effect is achieved, in the subsequent dose is gradually reduced.

Possible complications and contraindications are the same as with the use of amitriptyline.

Form release: gelatin capsules to 0.05 g (50 mg).
