Description of the medicine: Crysanol (Crysanolum)

CYRZANOL (Crysanolum).

A mixture containing 70% calcium aurothiopropanol sulfonate and 30% calcium gluconate. Contains 33, 5% gold.

For medical use, it is available as a 5% suspension in oil for injection (Сrisanolum oleosa 5% pree injectionibus). 1 ml of suspension contains about 17 mg of gold.

A similar drug is produced abroad under the name "0leochrysin".

Crisanol is one of the main gold-containing preparations used as the basic means in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (see also Penicillamine, Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs).

Mehnnizm action of gold preparations is not clear enough. It is believed, however, that their therapeutic effect is partly due to the effect on immune processes: they inhibit humoral immunity, while stimulating cellular immune responses, and therefore they can be conditionally attributed to immunomodulatory medications.

Previously, before the emergence of modern anti-tuberculosis antibiotics and synthetic chemotherapeutic drugs, crisanol was relatively widely used to treat fresh forms of pulmonary tuberculosis and the larynx.

Apply crisanol intramuscularly. Before use, the suspension in the ampoule is heated and shaken. Doses are individualized depending on the course of the disease and the tolerability of the drug. It is usually administered starting with 2 ml of a 5% suspension; Produce 10 injections at intervals of 2 to 5 days. Then inject 4 ml of 5% suspension and also make 10 injections at the same intervals. Only 20 to 25 injections. However, more accurate dosing, which increases efficiency and reduces side effects, is achieved when monitoring the concentration of gold in the blood plasma.

When treating rheumatoid arthritis, it is recommended to administer the drug with doses not exceeding 34 mg of gold per week; The minimum weekly dose of 17 mg of gold (1 ml of a 5% suspension). The optimal concentration of gold in the serum is 250-300 μg / 100 ml. Treatment should be carried out for a long time (1, 5 - 2 years).

Simultaneously with crisanol, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs can be prescribed (see).

There are data on the effectiveness of crisanol in the treatment of psoriatic arthritis.

When applying krizanol, especially with an overdose, there may be side effects: nephropathy, dermatitis, stomatitis, anemia. When dermatitis, diarrhea, pathological changes in the picture of blood, protein and blood in the urine, you need to increase the intervals between injections or stop further use of the drug.

Crisanol is contraindicated in diseases of the kidneys, diabetes mellitus, decompensated heart diseases, cachexia, miliary tuberculosis, fibro-cavernous processes in the lungs, hematopoiesis, pregnancy. Do not use immunosuppressive drugs at the same time as crisanol.
