Description medications: Dieton (Diaethoni)

DIETON (Diaethoni). 5% ointment containing 2, 6-dimethyl-3, 5-diethoxycarbonyl-1, 4-dihydropyridine.

Dieton as ointments of 5% possesses radioprotective properties. When applied to the skin prior to irradiation, increases its radioresistance and prevents or minimizes radiation dermatitis, eliminate swelling, flushing, itching and burning of the skin and accelerates its healing. Radioprotective effects of the drug is determined by its ability to prevent lipid peroxidation and membrane-stabilizing, as well as the ability to absorb free radicals.

Apply prophylactic and therapeutic purposes to protect the skin of patients with radiation therapy, as well as preventive skin protection personnel hand, working with sources of ionizing radiation. The product has a low toxicity and no irritation.

For prophylaxis, a thin layer of ointment applied to the skin site for the planned exposure 30 - 40 minutes prior to irradiation session and again after 1 - 2 hours after. Further ointment applied 2 - 3 times daily for 5 to 10 days.

With the purpose of treatment applied 3 times daily for 10 - 20 days depending on the severity of lesions.

For some patients, in the first 30 minutes after application to the skin may be observed weak burning sensation of the skin that passes quickly and is not a contraindication to its use.
