Description of the medicine: Urosulfan (Urosulfanum)
UROSULFAN (Urosulfanum). para-aminobenzenesulfonylurea.
Synonyms: Euvernil, Sulfacarbamidum, Sulfonilcarbamid, Uramid, etc.
Flavourless white crystalline powder. It is slightly soluble in water, difficult in alcohol, and easily in dilute acids and solutions of caustic alkalis.
The chemotherapeutic effect of urosulfan is most pronounced in relation to staphylococci and Escherichia coli. It is well and quickly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. A high concentration of the drug is created in the blood. It is secreted from the body mainly by the kidneys. A high concentration in the urine contributes to the antibacterial effect on the pathogens of urinary tract infections. Low toxicity. Urinary deposits are not observed.
Used for cystitis, pyelitis, cystopyelitis, pyelonephritis, infected hydronephrosis and other urinary tract infections. Most effective for pyelitis and cystitis without urinary disorders.
Assign inside 0.5 - 1, 0 g 3 - 5 times a day. The average adult dose is 3 g per day. The course of treatment is from 6 to 12-14 days, depending on the characteristics of the course of the disease. The daily dose for children is 1, 0 - 2, 5 g (in 4 - 5 doses).
Higher doses for adults inside: single 2 g, daily 7 g.
Release form: tablets of 0.5 g in a package of 12 pieces.
