Chlorchinaldolum. 5, 7-Dichloro-2-methyl-8-hydroxyquinoline.

Cream or orange-cream fine-grained powder with a peculiar smell. Almost nerastvorim in the water.

By chemical structure and mechanism of action is close to enteroseptol.

It has antibacterial, antifungal and antiprotozoal activity. The greatest activity is manifested in gram-positive (especially coccal forms), as well as in some gram-negative bacteria.

Applied with intestinal infectious diseases (dysentery, salmonellosis, food poisoning, intestinal infections caused by staphylococcus, proteus and other enterobacteria, and dysbacteriosis).

Is taken orally after a meal. Adults appoint 0.2 g (200 mg) 3 times a day; In mild cases - 0.1 g (100 mg) 3 times a day; In severe infections (eg, amoebic dysentery), the maximum daily dose of 1, 2 g.

Single dose for children aged 1 - 2 years - 0.03 g, daily - 0.09 - 0.12 g; 3 - 6 years - single 0,03 - 0,06 g, daily 0,15 - 0,18 g; 7 - 10 years - single 0,06 - 0,09 g, daily 0,24 - 0,3 g.

When calculated for body weight, the daily dose for children is usually 10 mg / kg, in mild cases - up to 5 mg / kg.

With amoebiasis, giardiasis, the dose can be increased, but not more than 15 mg / kg.

Duration of the course of treatment in adults and children is usually 3 - 5 days (not more than 7 days).

When taking chlorohinaldol possible, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, palpitation, skin rashes, headache. In these cases, the dose should be reduced or canceled.

In addition, when using chlorohinaldol, as well as other derivatives of 8-hydroxyquinoline, there may be side effects: peripheral neuropathies, myelopathies, optic nerve damage. To avoid these complications, do not exceed recommended doses and the duration of the drug.

Contraindications: increased sensitivity to the derivatives of 8-hydroxyquinoline (quinazole, nitroxoline, etc.), the presence in the history of allergic reactions, severe diseases of the liver and kidneys, diseases of the optic nerve, lesions of the peripheral nervous system.
