Description of the medicine: Furaginum solubile (Furaginum solubile)
FURAGIN SOLUBLE (Furaginum solubile).
N- (5-Nitrofuryl-2) -allylideneaminohydantoin potassium salt.
Synonyms: Solafur, Furagin potassium salt, Furamag, Furaginum-Kalium, Furamag, Solafur.
It is produced in the form of a mixture containing 10% soluble furagin and 90% sodium chloride (Furaginum solubile 10% cum Natrio chlorido 90%).
It has antibacterial activity similar to furagin. Better solubility compared to furagin, allows soluble furagin to be administered intravenously and quickly create a high concentration of the drug in the blood.
Assign to adults with severe infectious and inflammatory diseases caused by staphylococcus, streptococcus and other pathogens that are sensitive to the drug (sepsis, wound and purulent infection, severe burns, acute and chronic cystitis, urethritis, pyelonephritis, prostatitis, cholecystitis, bronchitis, pneumonia including complicated by infectious-allergic bronchial asthma, inflammatory diseases of the female genital organs, anaerobic infection).
Soluble furagin in capsules is also used to prevent infections during urological operations, cystoscopy, catheterization, etc.
Apply furagin soluble inwardly, intravenously, intratracheally, intrabronchially, is also administered in the cavity and is applied topically.
A 1% solution is injected intravenously slowly over a period of 3-4 hours. The daily dose for an adult is from 300 to 500 ml of the solution, depending on the severity of the disease. The course of treatment consists of 3 to 7 infusions.
When conducting medical or diagnostic treatment of bronchi, intratracheally injected from 100 to 300 ml of a 1% solution of the drug. The course of treatment is 3 to 14 infusions. Intrabronchial with bronchofibroscopy, a 0.5 - 1% solution of soluble furagin is added, heated to 36 - 39 C, fractionally 20 - 60 ml, and when washing the bronchus - 0.5% solution, heated to 36 - 39 C, fractionally 50 - 100 ml in a total dose of 500 - 800 ml while aspirating the injected fluid. If necessary, rinse again.
In the treatment of purulent-inflammatory processes (peritonitis, pleural empyema, suppuration of articular cavities), the cavities are washed with a 1% solution.
Locally, the drug is used in the form of a 1% solution in the treatment of burn wounds.
To prepare 0.5% and 1% solutions, 0.5 g or 1 g of the drug, respectively, is dissolved in 100 ml of hot water for injection and filtered through a millipore filter no larger than 0.45 μm (or through antibacterial ceramic candles or antibacterial glass filters ) followed by sterilization at 100 C for 30 minutes
Inside, take furagin soluble in capsule form (after eating) at 0.05 - 0.1 g 3 times a day. The course of treatment is 7 to 10 days. If necessary, after a 10 - 15-day break, the course is repeated.
Possible side effects are the same as with other nitrofurans.
With rapid intravenous administration of the drug in some cases, headache, nausea, and tinnitus are possible. To prevent these phenomena, the simultaneous use of antihistamines is recommended.
