Description of the medicine: Ribamidil (Ribamidil)

RIBAMIDIL. 1-b-D-Ribofuranosyl-1 H-1, 2, 4-triazole-3-carboxamide.

Synonyms: Virazol, Ribavirin, Ribavirin, Tribavirin, Viramid, Viratek, Viratel, Virazide, Virazole, Virustaz.

White with a yellowish tinge crystalline powder. Easily soluble in water, little - in alcohol.

Ribamidyl, like acyclovir, is a synthetic nucleoside with antiviral activity. Inhibits the synthesis of viral RNA, and DNA.

Passing through the cell membranes, ribamidyl is metabolized, becoming mono- and triphosphate. Ribamidyl-5-monophosphate is a competitive inhibitor of inosine monophosphate dehydrogenase, which leads to inhibition of the synthesis of viral RNA and DNA, not acting on host cells.

Ribamidil has an antiviral effect against influenza type A and B, infections caused by the herpes virus (herpetic gingivostomatitis, genital herpes, herpes zoster), as well as measles and chicken pox, hepatitis A and acute form of hepatitis B.

Take inside (after eating). Doses for adults in the treatment of influenza by 0.2 g 3 - 4 times a day for 3 to 5 days. Treatment should be started at the first signs of the disease. For other viral diseases, appoint 0.2 g 3 - 4 times a day for 7 - 10 - 14 days. In the treatment of acute infections, a shock dose of 1, 4 - 1, 6 g (1400 - 1600 mg) can be given on day 1.

Children are given 10 mg / kg per day.

When using the drug, pain in the stomach, flatulence, increased levels of indirect bilirubin in the blood.

Contraindications: acute liver and kidney disease, thyrotoxicosis, pregnancy.

Form release: tablets (white with a yellowish tint) to 0.2 grams in a package of 20 pieces.
