IDOXURIDINE (Idoxuridine). 5-Iodine-2-deoxyuridine:
Synonyms: Kerecid, Oftan-IDU, Dendrid, Emanil, Herpesil, Herpetil, Herplex, Idexur, IDU, Iduridin, Iduviran, IUDR, Keracid, Kerecid, Laevojodin, Oftan-IDU, Stoxil, Synmiol, etc.
The drug has a selective inhibitory effect on the replication of certain viruses.
Applied in ophthalmic practice as a local antiviral agent for keratitis caused by the virus heps simplex or vaccinia (see also Poludan).
Assign in the form of a 0.1% solution. Instill 2 drops in the conjunctival sac every hour during the day and every 2 hours at night.
