Remantadine is a derivative of amantadine, or midantane (see), used as an antiparkinsonian agent, and is also a specific chemotherapeutic drug; It has a preventive effect against influenza infection caused by certain strains of viruses (type A2).

Remantadine, in comparison with midantanom, has a more pronounced antiviral activity. It is effective against various influenza A viruses; And also has an antitoxic effect on influenza; Caused by the B virus. Like midtantan, it is not effective in other SARS.

Apply rimantadine for the purpose of early treatment and prevention of influenza and a period of epidemics.

The drug is especially effective for influenza infection caused by type A2 virus.

Take remantadin inside (after eating), washing down with water as follows: adults are given on the 1st day of the disease 100 mg (2 tablets) 3 times; In the 2 nd and 3 rd days - 100 mg 2 times; In the 4th day - 100 mg 1 time. On the 1st day of the disease, you can take the drug once in a dose of 300 mg (6 tablets).

Children from 7 to 10 years are prescribed 50 mg (1 tablet) 2 times a day; 11 - 14 years - 50 mg 3 times a day. Take for 5 days.

For the prevention of influenza, 0.05 g (50 mg) is prescribed once a day every day for 10 to 15 days, depending on the focus of the infection.

Remantadine is usually well tolerated. In some cases, possible pain in the stomach.
