NITAZOLUM. 2-Acetylamino-5-nitrothiazole.

Synonyms: Acinitrazole, Aminitrazole, Aminitrazolum, Trichocid, Tricholaval, Trichoral, Trinex, and others.

Yellow with a greenish tinge of crystalline powder. Almost nerastvorim in water, little soluble in alcohol.

Suppresses the development of Trichomonas vaginalis and other protozoa. It also has an antimicrobial effect on staphylococci, streptococci, Escherichia coli and some other pathogenic microorganisms. Inactive with Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Proteus.

Applied for the treatment of acute and chronic urinary incidence of trichomoniasis in women and men, as well as for the treatment of wounds, trophic ulcers, skin infections, etc.

Assign inside the form of tablets and topically in the form of suspensions, vaginal suppositories and aerosol.

Treatment of women begins immediately after the end of another menstruation. Purify the external genitalia and vagina from mucus with a swab dampened with 1% sodium bicarbonate solution; Douching with the same solution is treated with the vagina. Then a vaginal suppository with nitazole (0.12 g) is introduced into the vagina. After 8 to 12 hours, repeat the procedure. At the same time, Nitazol tablets (0.1 g) are given inside: 1 tablet 3 times a day after meals. Local treatment in women can be carried out by applying a 2.5% suspension of nitazole or nitazole in the form of an aerosol foam. In the conditions of the female consultation, rub the outer genitalia, the vaginal walls, arches and the cervix with a tampon moistened with a 1% solution of sodium bicarbonate, and then with a swab moistened with a 2.5% suspension of nitazole. Another tampon, moistened with a suspension, is treated with external holes of the urethra and rectum. In the vagina, a tampon impregnated with a suspension of nitazole is introduced, which is removed after 8 hours. At home, the patient spends a douching with a 1% sodium hydrogencarbonate overnight, and then injects into the vagina a vaginal suppository containing 0.12 g of nitazole. Local treatment with nitazole is combined with the administration of the drug inside: take 0.1 g of nitazole 3 times a day. The treatment cycle consists of 15 procedures. The course of treatment 2 - 3 cycles.

When using aerosol cans, remove the protective cap, put on the nozzle, the free end of which is inserted into the vagina, and press on the base of the nozzle for 1 to 2 seconds; During this time, 1, 0 - 2, 6 g of foam containing 0.017-0.044 g of nitazole is released. On the external aperture of the urethra and on the anus, also foam is applied, pressing on the nozzle for less than 1 s. The procedure is carried out 2 times a day (morning and evening).

When treating women with nitazole, in order to avoid reinfection, it is recommended to treat both partners simultaneously, appointing them 0.1 g per day 3 times a day. The course of treatment (for 15 days) is repeated 2 - 3 times with an interval of 1 to 2 weeks.

Vaginal suppositories are prescribed for prophylactic purposes if they suspect a danger of infection.

Azrozole nitazole can be used topically in case of wound infection. The foam is applied once a day for not more than 7 days.

Nitazole is usually well tolerated.
