CLOTRIMAZOLE (Clotrimazole).

Diphenyl - (2-chlorophenyl) -1-imidazolyl methane.

Synonyms: Kanesten, Candid, Canesten, Empecid, Imidil, Lotrimin, Mycosporin, Panmicol, and others.

Clotrimazole is one of the representatives of the group of imidazole antifungal drugs (see Ketoconazole, Mikozolone, Miconazole).

Apply clotrimazole topically. The drug has a wide range of effects. Effective against dermatophytes, yeast fungi; Has also an antibacterial effect on staphylococci and streptococci.

Assign for skin mycoses caused by dermatomycetes, blastomycetes, mold fungi, with mycosis of the skin with secondary infection (mycosis of feet, nails, etc.), as well as with urogenital candidiasis.

Apply in the form of ointment (cream), solution and intravaginal tablets.

The cream or solution is applied to the affected areas with a thin layer 2 - 3 times a day, rubbed. The course of treatment is usually up to 4 weeks or more. With mycosis stop, to avoid relapse continue treatment for 3 weeks after the disappearance of the symptoms of the disease. Before lubricating, the feet are washed with warm water and soap and thoroughly dried, especially the interdigital spaces.

For the treatment of urogenital candidiasis, a pill is administered for the night in the vagina, and the vulva and the perineal skin are lubricated with 1% cream. Instillation of 1% solution in the urethra is also carried out for 6 days.

There are data on the use of the drug for the treatment of varicolored lichen. Apply 1% cream or 1% solution to the lesions for 10 days or more (up to 3 - 4 weeks).

Contraindications: pregnancy.

Form release: cream 1% in tubes of 20 g; 1% solution in orange glass bottles of 15 ml; Intravaginal tablets for 0.1 g of the drug.
