NAFTAAMON (Naphthammonum). 2-Phenoxyethyldimethylbenzylammonium-2-hydroxynaphthoate.

Synonyms: Alcopar, Bephenii hydroxynaphthoas, Debefenium.

Light greenish-yellow crystalline powder, odorless, bitter to the taste. Very little soluble in water (0.25%), soluble when heated in alcohol.

By chemical structure is a quaternary ammonium compound.

Applied in the treatment of ascariasis, ankylostomiasis, enterobiasis, trichostrongyloidosis, trichocephalosis.

The drug causes contracture of the musculature of parasites, which contributes to their removal from the intestine.

Naphthenone is produced in the form of two medicinal forms: naphthalone tablets coated with a coating (Taulettae Naphthammoni Kobductae) greenish-yellow with a specific odor, soluble in the intestine, and tablets of naphthalone, soluble in the intestine (Taulettae Narkhthammoni elterosolubiles), greenish yellow Color, odorless or with a faint smell.

Both types of tablets are taken orally, without chewing, on an empty stomach, 2 hours before breakfast and washed down with water.

Adults and children over 10 years of age are given 5 g of the drug (10 tablets), children from 3 to 6 years old - 2, 0 - 2, 5 g (4 to 5 tablets), 6 to 7 years - 3 g (6 tablets) From 8 to 9 years - 4 g (8 tablets).

The highest single and daily dose for adults inside 5 g; For children 3 - 5 years - 2, 5 g, 6 - 7 years - 3 g, 8 - 9 years - 4 g, 10 - 14 years - 5 g.

Preliminary preparation and compliance with the diet is not required, but it is desirable to limit the use of spicy, salty and fatty foods and milk. Due to the fact that the drug has a laxative effect, laxative after its administration is usually not prescribed.

Take the drug for 3 to 5 days. If necessary, repeat the treatment after 2 - 3 weeks.

Treatment with naphthamone is carried out in a hospital.

When using naphthamone, nausea, vomiting, and frequent stools are possible. These phenomena occur after discontinuation of the drug.

Contraindications: a dysfunction of the liver.
