PROTARGOL (Protargolum).

Synonym: Argentum proteinicum.

Brown-yellow or brown light powder odorless, slightly bitter and slightly astringent taste. Easily soluble in water, insoluble in alcohol, ether, chloroform. Contains 7, 8 - 8, 3% silver.

Applied as an astringent, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory agent for lubricating the mucous membranes of the upper respiratory tract (1 - 5% solution), for washing the urethra and bladder in gonorrheal chronic urethritis (1-3% solution), in eye drops with conjunctivitis, blepharitis, Blennery (1 - 3% solution).

In connection with the availability of modern antibacterial drugs (sulfonamides, antibiotics, etc.), protargol (like other drugs of silver) is not widely used at present.

Storage: in well ukuporennyh banks of orange glass in the dark place.
