Description of the medicine: Protargolum (Protargolum)
Synonym: Argentum proteinicum.
Brown-yellow or brown light powder, odorless, slightly bitter and slightly astringent taste. Easily soluble in water, insoluble in alcohol, ether, chloroform. Contains 7, 8 - 8, 3% silver.
It is used as an astringent, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory agent for lubricating the mucous membranes of the upper respiratory tract (1 - 5% solution), for washing the urethra and bladder with chronic gonorrhea urethritis (1 - 3% solution), in eye drops for conjunctivitis, blepharitis, Flerter (1 - 3% solution).
Due to the presence of modern antibacterial drugs (sulfonamides, antibiotics, etc.), protargol (like other silver preparations) is currently not widely used.
Release form: powder.
Storage: in well-sealed jars of orange glass in a dark place.
The solutions are released and stored in a dark glass dish.
