Description of the medicine: Decamethoxin (Decamethoxinum)
DECAMETOXIN (Decamethoxinum). 1, 10-Decamethylene bis (N, N-dimethyl-mentoxycarbonylmethyl) -ammonium dichloride.
White crystalline powder with a faint odor. Easily soluble in water.
It is a bis-quaternary ammonium compound. The chemical structure and antimicrobial effect is close to ethony.
Decamethoxin is used for purulent and fungal skin lesions (abscesses, purulent wounds, candidiasis, etc.), for proctitis, purulent conjunctivitis, gingivitis, periodontitis, tonsillitis, otitis media and other purulent processes. Endobronchial is used for lung diseases.
Also used as an antiseptic for the treatment of hands of medical personnel and the surgical field; in addition, for the disinfection of suture and surgical materials, rubber gloves, medical instruments, instruments and equipment made of metal, glass, plastic, rubber, as well as for chemical sterilization and preservation of bone-tendon grafts.
Decamethoxin is used in the form of a solution topically and endobronchially.
Solutions are prepared from tablets, which are mechanically crushed and dissolved in distilled water, isotonic sodium chloride solution or in alcohol. For the treatment of ear diseases, prepared ear drops (0.05% alcohol solution) are available.
With purulent and fungal skin diseases, a 0.5% aqueous solution for washing, lotions is used. With candidal skin lesions, erythrasma, pityriasis versicolor make applications - 0.1% aqueous solution.
To wash the bladder, decamethoxin is used in the form of a 0.003% aqueous solution in a dose of 500 - 600 ml (for a course of treatment 7 to 20 washes).
With proctitis and ulcerative colitis, a 0.01 - 0.03% aqueous solution in the form of enemas of 50 - 100 ml 2 times a day is prescribed until the signs of acute inflammation subside.
In case of lesions of the oral mucosa, a 0.025% aqueous solution is used for 10-15 minute applications (25-50 ml), rinses (100-150 ml). A dystrophic-inflammatory form of periodontal disease of I - II degree in the acute stage is treated with a 0.025% aqueous solution (50 - 70 ml) by irrigation of pathological gingival pockets, appliqués on the gum until the inflammatory phenomena subside.
For candidal lesions of the oral mucosa, ulcerative necrotic gingivitis, decamethoxin is used in the form of mouth rinses with 0.01 - 0.02% aqueous solution (100 - 150 ml) 4 times a day for 5 to 10 days.
In acute purulent conjunctivitis after ophthalmic surgery, the drug is instilled in the form of a 0.02% aqueous solution of 4-5 drops in a conjunctival sac 4-6 times a day.
Patients with acute otitis media are instilled with a 0.05% alcohol (70%) solution of 3-4 drops 3 times a day in the ear.
Endobronchial decamethoxin is administered in the form of a 0.02-0.025% solution prepared in an isotonic sodium chloride solution.
To treat the surgical field and hands, a 0.025% aqueous solution is used.
For sterilization of suture material, instruments, equipment using 0.1% aqueous and alcohol (70% and 96%) solutions.
