Description of the medicine: Papenzyl (Paphencylum)

PAPENCYL (Paphencylum). Para- [bis ((b-chloroethyl) -amino] -phenacetyl-p-aminobenzoic acid.

White with a creamy hue of crystalline powder. Almost nerastvorim in the water.

The structure is close to lofenal.

Has antileiotic effect. Easily absorbed when ingested.

Applied with chronic lymphocytic leukemia, Hodgkin's malignant lymphomas, lymphogranulomatosis (in combination with other drugs and for maintenance therapy).

Assign inside a daily dose of 50 to 100 mg (in 4 divided doses at intervals of 4 to 6 hours) daily. In the case of a rapid decrease in the number of leukocytes take 2 to 3 times a week. The course dose of 600 to 3000 mg (an average of 1500 mg per course). In some cases, increase the dose to 4000 mg.

In chronic lymphocytic leukemia, daily doses should not exceed 75 mg, and the rate of 1000 - 1200 mg.

Before the treatment with papenzil and, 2 times a week, during the treatment, a complete blood test is performed. By the end of the treatment course, the number of leukocytes is examined every other day. After the main course of treatment, maintenance therapy is prescribed (50 - 75 mg 1 - 2 times a week) under the control of hematopoiesis.

Possible side effects and contraindications are basically the same as when using other bis (b-chloroethyl) -amine derivatives.
