White crystalline powder odorless. It is soluble in water and alcohol. The sodium salt is soluble in water; Is issued as a colorless transparent solution.

Fluorafur is a derivative of fluorouracil (a prodrug). The antitumor effect is due to the fluorouracil released in the body. In comparison with fluorouracil, fluoroufur is better tolerated by patients. On the hematopoiesis acts like fluorouracil, causing in large doses of leukopenia, thrombocytopenia and anemia.

When administered orally, fluoroufur is rapidly absorbed.

Ftorafur in the form of capsules for oral administration and solutions of sodium salt for intravenous administration, used for malignant tumors of the stomach, thick, sigmoid and rectum, breast cancer; With skin lymphomas (reticulosis of the skin), as well as diffuse neurodermatitis and endogenous uveitis.

The solution of sodium salt is administered intravenously every day 1-2 times a day with an interval between administrations of 12 hours. The daily dose is usually 30 mg / kg, but not more than 2 g. The total dose for the course of treatment is 30-40 g.

Inside, prescribe ftorafur capsules. The daily dose of 1, 6 - 2, 0 g (30 mg / kg) in 2 divided doses with an interval of 12 hours. The dose for the course of treatment is 40-60 g. If necessary, after 1, 5 - 2 months, repeat courses.

With skin lymphomas and neurodermatitis, administer fluoroufur intravenously with 0.4 g (10 ml of 4% solution) once a day. The course of treatment 10 - 15 injections (total from 4 to 6 g of the drug).

With endogenous uveitis, 4% solution is used by phonophoresis (panic). The course of treatment 10 - 15 daily procedures for 5 minutes. Treatment is carried out 2 - 3 times a year.

With prolonged use of fluoroufur and its sodium salt and with increased sensitivity of the patient, nausea, vomiting, stomatitis, diarrhea, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia may occur. Treatment should be carried out under the control of the state of hematopoiesis (see Fluorouracil).

In case of violations of hematopoiesis, pour 100 - 125 ml of blood 2 - 3 times a week.

When intravenously administered, dizziness may occur. To avoid this, it is recommended to administer fluoroufur infusion when the patient is lying down.

The drug is contraindicated at a level of leukocytes below 3 x 10 9 / l and platelets below 100 x 10 9 / l, in terminal stages of the disease, with liver and kidney diseases, with acute profuse bleeding, severe anemia.

The use of the drug is allowed no earlier than one month after the previous radiation or chemotherapeutic treatment.

The use of fluoroufur by phonophoresis is contraindicated in cases of eye hypotension, retinal detachment and diseases in which ultrasound treatment is excluded.

Forms of release: 4% solution of sodium salt in ampoules of 10 ml (0.4 g in the ampoule); Gelatin capsules containing 0.4 g of fluoroufur, in a package of 100 capsules.
