Description of the medicine: Mitomycin (Mitomycin)

MITOMYCIN (Mitomycin).

Antitumor antibiotic isolated from Streptomyces caespitosus.

Synonyms: Ametycine, Mutamycin.

The structure has some elements of similarity with bruneiomycin. Contains a urethane group and an azaridine ring.

Penetrating into cells, mitomycin becomes a bi-trifunctional alkylating agent. Has relatively weak immunosuppressive activity.

Applied with adenocarcinoma of the stomach (in combination with fluorouracil and doxorubicin), carcinoma of the cervix, intestines, pancreas, bladder and other malignant tumors.

Enter intravenously. The usual dose of 2 mg per 1 m2 of body surface area per day for 5 days. The courses are repeated at intervals of 2 days.

The drug can cause depression of peripheral and bone marrow hematopoiesis, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomatitis. May enhance the cardiotoxic effect of doxorubicin.

Product: in bottles of 5 or 20 mg (crystals of blue-violet color, soluble in water).
